    ICD Desert Fox

So I want to buy an ICD Desert Fox. However, I am not sure of the correct nomenclature for the one I think I am interested in. The one I am seeking does not have the asa built into the frame but I think instead would require a bottomline. What is the correct name for it?

I believe what you are looking for is a 98 desert fox.

I *think* the pre-98 desert foxes were all back bottle, Maybe someone can correct me if they weren't, but all the pre-98 foxes I've seen have a back bottle. The 98 foxes have a vertical ASA and a gasline running from it to the back of the marker.

I believe that is the more common term. I have also seen them called Desert Fox Deluxe... but not recently.

Vintage Rex has the pre-98s listed as Classic Desert Fox.

I would agree with Myrkul. I have a “Deluxe” which I think is the same thing as a 98. Manual calls it a Desert Fox - 98.

Thank you for posting. I think the consensus is that the 98 features the cleaner frame. I appreciate the help guys

The 98 is really the one you want regardless of the ASA position. It completely deleted the on/off.

That change made the gun crazy simple and reliable, as long as you weren't using the the stock reg.

Best practice is to gut the stock reg, keep the internals on hand for purest and collectors, and use a secondary reg on the vert ASA to actually control velocity.
