Freeflow Funnel downgrade kit for the DYE Rotor

Anyone tried one of these things out yet?
Appears to be a method of sacrificing some of the Rotor's speed and most of its forcefeed capacity in return for greater reliability when it encounters oblong or soft paint.
When I think about how I've been using my Rotor over the last 5 years this seems like a pretty good bargain.

I have sworn against the rotor ever since it cost me a 3 man tourney back at Super Game East. It was a mech tourney and on the last point for the win it failed to load and jammed to where the shark fin wouldnt even undo it. As soon as I got off the field and removed the hopper, it worked like magic again. The paint was 4 star paint and it was pretty good overall. I bet this would have made a difference but even a few of the videos of peeps using them on youtube show them jamming first thing. Spires have never let me down, not even when I decided to sink my marker into mud at a 10 man a few years ago. The speed feed was caked with mud to the point it wouldnt allow me to load it but the balls under it were still being fed to the marker.

Haha this thing has been getting dragged in the comment section for every video I've seen on it.

Mind you it's coming from the kind of person who buys a rental quality mask, a rotor, a low end electro, the cheapest 48/3k tank and sets the thing to the highest possible rof.

I haven't tried one... But I have my rotor's tension turned down and I haven't had a jam in years. I still have my rotor from like 10 years ago plus an R2 and neither of them jam with the tension reduced. 🤷‍♂️ Hundreds of cases through the original for sure. Of course I rarely use an electro so that might contribute.

I dunno what this thing is supposed to do for you. It sounds like it just puts less tension on the stack... just like turning down the tension.

Disclaimer: I have not watched the above video so it may say exactly what i am saying or completely opposite do not know. This is my opinion and i have only "tested" by 2 gravity drops and 1 day of dry 70F play.
I have tried it and it does exactly as described, the one item I learned is to make sure and turn the tension on the rotor all the way up. I can not find where it says to do this on the package or their website but a team mate said he heard about it from freeflow so maybe it is on facebook, not sure. I did that and did not have an issue with tournament, and some very old paint.
Some pros: it turns the rotor into a slight gravity feed so if the power does go out you can still load most of the paint.
Construction quality is very good and it fits just like the stock insert.
Very very slight noise reduction. Think sound of a 110hp car vs a 120hp car.
Less jams and jam remove fin works just like usual.
Slightly more room for paint maybe fits 6 more balls.
Cons: As stated it slows the hopper down, with a gravity drop the standard rotor output a full hopper at 5.5 seconds and with the FF insert it took 10.5, i did not count the balls but figure that a standard hopper is apx 200 balls so still much higher then 10.5 balls per second.
The stack pressure is significantly reduced if you use your rotor to fill your magazines then you will need to keep the stock feed.
I have not tested this but feel like blowback will be more of an issue with this feed since you have less stopping the balls from moving, but until i test it with a Nova or something with some good blowback i am not sure.

Overall: if you had previously tried the rotor, LTR or R2 and stopped using it because it jammed too much this is for you. If you are starting to wear out your jam fin on your rotor because your rotor jams that often this is for you. If your local field has decided to buy the cheapest nastiest paint where every single ball is a different size and shape this is for you. If you did not know that the little fin on the bottom of your rotor was movable and could remove a jammed paintball, this is not an item that is needed and will not be helpful. If you fall in-between those extremes like i am sure most of you do then I would say if you have to remove a jam from your rotor more then 1 time per game this is something to consider.

Well I watched that video and it covers about 90% of what I typed out. He noticed a larger sound signature difference then me and a difference in tension, ie not max but close to 2 turns in.

Want a hot OCD tip to make sure you never jam your hopper at a tournament?

Have your pod monkeys run every single bag through a stock Rotor before it goes into caddies or pods. Any ball that is oblong enough to cause problems can be found and removed.

You can even macgyver the bottom half of a rotor into a plastic tub, makes removing the offending balls much faster.

I'm with Hellion, when I did have a Rotor it was the LTR and never once jammed. No issues ever. I also had the tension down which is necessary, as us making sure everything is clean.

I have ran the same OG rotor since 2009. It has had dozens of cases through it and the only time I had a jam with it was with really old crappy paint that stuck together in the bag, haha. I may just be lucky but even the tiny paint at around .679ish hasn't jammed for me.

Same here. I've got the same Rotor from when they were released in 2008 and it still runs great with the tension turned down.

I run nothing but rotors. i had the tension turned down and work fine for me. i will occasionally get a funky ball but seems to work well enough.

I did pick one up to try out. I need to try it out during play, but i already have some thoughts to improve on it.
