Limited Paint - hoppers, carrying 10rnd tubes

In a little over a month, one of my "local" fields (2 hours away) is hosting a limited paint event. Magfed, pump with small hoppers, and 10 round tube adapters for anything else. I've played stock class, I've played pump tournaments, but never played where everyone is 10-20 rounds total. I'm really looking forward to it. But I wanted to ask a couple questions.

First things first is carrying 10 round tubes. I used to have an old shotgun belt that was closed on one side, so I flipped it over and ran capless. It was fantastic, but back in 2019 or so I sold all my pump stuff including the belt. I haven't been able to find one like it since. Thanks to Apamburn, I have tubes again, but I don't have a way of carrying them. I'm kinda thinking of doing the old gauntlet style, but I don't see people do that very much anymore. Is it generally not a good way to go compared to a belt or harness? Also I only really see these. Are there better options?

I probably won't do 10 round tube or stock class often, so I don't want to spend much money on it.

On a similar but different note, I am really interested in 50 round hoppers right now. I'm kind of considering 3d printing one the old "shoe" rotors, but I'm also curious how good the Jolos are. I've heard good things about them, but how well do they work on a semi gun? Especially something really low kick like a good cocker or emek. I do think I'd want to cut down the feedneck; it just sits too high.

I played in the one they did this weekend and I'm hoping to go to the one next month as well, it was a ton of fun.

I used my T2 and my Phantom. I've got a bunch of different stock class harness options, including a gauntlet or 2 if you want to try them out. I'm personally a big fan of the Topstich/PBMafia Joyride pack for capless since it's in an area I (hopefully) don't get shot in much and stays out of the way if I'm crawling, not that I do that much.

The Jolos work well and using a 50rd hopper with a small tank on my Emek is one of my favorite ways to use it. It will keep up as long as you're not shooting long strings, which kind of defeats the point anyways.

Dang I didn't realize they did them so frequently. I just saw that the guys I became friends with on fb were "interested" in the event next month.

If I were serious about using 10 round tubes I would definitely do a joyride. But I'm not there yet.

This, plus a Condor roll up dump pouch. https://www.evike.com/products/54404/

I think I know what shotgun belt you used to have, sounds like this one maybe? https://www.ebay.com/itm/395811860304

Dang I think that's exactly it!! Might have been a slightly different camo pattern but it was also at least 20 years old.

Magmoormaster I've always wondered how they'd work running capless

Worked great for me. Never dropped a tube, never got in the way. I usually only carried 4-6 tubes, so I never really felt it on me.

I wouldn't go with a JOLO on something with minimal kick, I have not had great results on my Gmek. As you intimate though they're great pump hoppers.

If you want to go cheap just run caps with a shotgun shell belt, that should be dirt cheap. If you are committed to capless something like a gauntlet may work well for you. I don't like them because I don't like extra stuff on my arms , but I know plenty of the pump guys here run them.

If you don't have caps to run I have a ton of them and I would be happy to send you a bunch for the cost of a padded envelope.

Hmm, I'll PM you on that. I have caps for most of my tubes but I am missing a handful.

Never used the Jolo so I have no comment on them but I have had a Shoe Loader and I love it especially after adding the Virtue LiON battery pack to it. Only down side I see to the Shoe Loader is it is fairly heavy due to the Rotor guts with batteries is definitely not light. So if you are doing limited paint and have spare Rotor guts laying around I would definitely recommend the Shoe Loader. Is it necessary? By all means no I have other small gravity loaders that work well but it is nice to know that when you go to pull the trigger you a confident the last time you cocked your marker you know a ball loaded.

If you would like I have no problem loaning you my Joy Ride harness so you can play some stock class also might convince you to play more stock class and join the "evil" side.

Pretty much any shotgun shell elastic holding device out there will work for holding your tubes but you'll need to go back to using caps on your tubes unless you can find a shotgun belt or similar with pretty wide elastic that you can close up on one side. I used to use a Shotgun Bandolier with capped tubes they work pretty well especially if you have tethered caps. If your tubes have the green caps they can be tethered pretty easily with two tie wraps or even easier a piece of string.

Very kind of you, but it looks like Handy is willing to loan me some stuff. Since he's local I think that'll work better all around. I appreciate it though!!

Also when you say the shoe is heavy, about how heavy are we talking? Comparable to a revi? Or more like a Spire?

My Shoe loader weighs 1lbs 2oz with Elbow and no paint. It does not bother me but a lot of people comment how heavy it feels comparted to their gravity feed loader. I use it in big games/scenarios all day on a RF Sniper and it has never really bothered me. On a CF marker it shouldn't bother anyone.

If everyone is limited to 20 rounds total per game... I'd just stuff the tubes in a pocket and call it good enough. I haven't used a gauntlet style stock class set up, but love my Joyride. TopStitch has a few stock class options, but I don't know what "much money" means to you:

I think any 12 gauge belt/bandolier should fit tubes well enough. A generic pouch on a belt works fine too.

Sorry I don't think we're limited to 20 rounds per game, just 20 rounds in the gun at a time. I mispoke earlier.

I forgot they did a guantlet as well. $30 per is more than I'd prefer (since I'd want 2), but it's not unreasonable.

PB DNA JoLo is the best small cap hopper it feeds as good as a powered hopper.

Joyride and dual Gauntlets are my favorite. I use an elastic shot gun shell holder on my wrist to hold 12g.

If you just looking for something cheap pick up a shot gun shell holder belt or bandleader. You can get them for like $10 on Amazon or Walmart. If you use the belt I recommend putting them in every other slot so you can grab them. Get tethered caps way better than the green caps.

First of all. I have a GxG belt that's much like a joy ride. Jeepdlvz gave it to me years ago, and I've since acquired other gear. You are welcome to have it for shipping costs.

2nd. I have a rig I've assembled. Its essentially a 10 tube leg drop panel on a joyride. For big games. I'll fill my joy ride. Though it loses tubes occasionally. It also has an army issue mag pouch on the bels where I cram a few empties. 99% of the time, I run the 10 on my leg, and that's all I need.

If you're only carrying a few tubes, I'd recommend a dump pouch. Put full tubes in cap up, empties cap down so you dont confuse them. You can get them cheap off of the jungle site.

Jolos are the best small hopper around. I rarely get a jam, and its usually only if it's too full. About 40 paintballs or less it doesnt skip a beat on a pump.
