    I think I need a pump

Been playing Recball recently after coming back to paintball after many years off. As a former tournament player I have really been looking for ways to keep an aggressive fun play style while not running down the side of the field and shooting everyone in the back. First I put away my G6r and pod pack in favor of hopper ball with an emek. But now I am looking for more fun and I think stock class is the way to go!

Now the fun part, choosing what type of pump you want! Super light and mobile, look at a Phantom. More solid and smooth, look at a cocker-based pump. Or just want to dip your toe in, find cheap Azodin. Then figure out just how much money you want to spend!

No, you don't "think" you need a pump. You KNOW you need a pump.

I would say ease into stock class. Get an open class like a good sniper build (and I don't mean an Empire Sniper, I mean a "cocker pump") OR play with the Phantom or whatever stock class marker in open class then start switching over.

Stock class isn't for everyone, while I have enjoyed it to a degree it's not what I prefer unless I was playing only with other SC players.

      But that's just me.

I think Iā€™ll jump into stock class. The bare bones nature really sounds appealing to me! I have a trilogy that I could convert but Iā€™m very much a dive head first into things kinda guy

Stock Class is a hard jump from Semi lots of things you have to be aware with that are not actually playing the game and you can not depend on rapid fire to get you out of most situations. I tend to recommend playing open class first before jumping into stock class keeps the frustrations down while your muscles are creating muscle memory for a pump.

Thank you for the advice. I have played a little bit of stock class when I first started playing paintball but quickly got swept into the tournament scene. I want the most challenge I can get right now because the local field I play at is mostly rentals and very chill recreational players nice electros

Definitely borrow a pump to try it before you go buying one. It's fun, but it's also a totally different thing.
I though I wanted to play pump, but it turns out I enjoyed the gmek play instead. I still shoot less paint, but I actually have a chance of catchign somebody running, and it's not a dire situation if the paint isnt' perfect and won't break.

I have played a little bit of pump before many years ago and I always enjoyed. oddly enough I thought back in my head about all the kills Iā€™ve gotten recently and thought weather or not I could have accomplished it with a pump I would say 70% of the time ā€œmaybeā€ lol

This! Paintball is really fun when you treat it like a bad loadout challenge in COD, Halo, or Battlefield. Click image for larger version

The junk class game we played earlier this fall was some of the most fun I've had playing paintball lately. I used a tigershark, a single shot pgp that was chronoing at a blazing 220 fps and a pump Spyder that was farting so bad I was burning a 13/3k every 60 or so shots. It was glorious and reminded me of the type of nonsense that happens when you're new to the game.

Pump is the way, and every once in a while itā€™s fun to use stick feed on a automag or emek

I actually am starting to enjoy using stick feeds more and more on stuff that really shouldn't be stick fed. It makes trigger control much more important and I feel like it makes me play smoother than if I'm just pumping like a mad man. This is currently my favorite thing to use.

Where are you playing? The northeast has a killer pump group

Iā€™ve been playing in central Florida. And I really havenā€™t met many pump players. But itā€™s probably because most of my paintball was spent in the lower divisional tournament scene

Central FL is prime Tournament ball territory.
