    Virtue app, having issues

Did virtue just stop all support for their app and pull it from the app store at some point?

I figured I better check on my hopper since it's been a hot minute since I connected to it, wanted to review the settings. I hate programming through blinking led lights so after realizing I didn't have the virtue app on my new phone went to Google play only to discover that the app just wasn't there any more.

After spending way too long finding it on a 3rd party site which I'm quite sure did not in any way download spyware on my phone but did give me the app I went to connect to the hopper only for the app to tell me "incorrect firmware version, update the firmware to continue"

But wasn't one of the whole points of the app to update the hopper firmware?

So I still haven't connected to the hopper...

You can maybe try an older version?

I have one, going to a reball field.

          Rotor + reball = fail

          Yes, got the app running.

I may have sorted this out just need to have a second between watching the kids and making dinner to go grab the hopper again.

In the app there's a different section that's way out basically in the main menus, before you even select that it's a spire, or clock that you are connecting to to update firmware. It's not very intuitive and kind of a dumb place to put it

Wait I can talk to my hopper with an app? Does this extend to the ir2 or a premium spire feature?

I didn't think the ir has it. The 3 and I'm pretty sure the 4. Not sure about the 5 because virtue doesn't seem to be advertising it any longer and the app is gone.

It's nice when it works, being able to view and change settings on a screen is very helpful

Got it sorted out, it's just the firmware update is in the very first menu you come into rather than after telling the app you have the hopper or clock or ace marker

The Hobbit looks like it's spire 3 and 4 only. Those are the only two listed in the app at least. The 5 is not there and neither are any of the ir hoppers

If you can get yourself a cheap 3 try it out

I’ll have to keep an eye out for a 3 or 4, sounds like some neat idea. What all can you control on the app? Feed rate, tension, etc.

Why would you want to adjust the feed rate? Tension I could see if you are running something that don’t have functional detents. But feed rate? Why wouldn’t you just set it to max and forget about it.

Is the only way to adjust these things is through an App? im still living in 2006 when it comes to hopper tec.

I see a lot of people with hopper problems I don’t ever remember having.

Not connected right now so everything is greyed out, but yeah no bps but pretty much everything after that. Sensitivity, force, if it beeps to reload or just gives you the led lights or none at all. When it gives you the reload alert etc

I set mine up to have the lights only, it's not like it's a game changer as a hopper feature but I think it's nice, works for me

No you can adjust everything on the hopper itself as well. It's just the dance of colored led lights and button pushes at the right time.

Easier to just use your eyes and be able to see the settings on a screen

                        What is G force Sensitivity?

It tells you to reload! Mine just sounds like it’s makin margaritas.

How sensitive it is to the marker firing. The spire series (not ir series) uses an accelerometer to measure when a marker fires.

As far as technology in the hopper is concerned the rotor is banging sticks on rocks to make music compared to an orchestra.

Each hopper has its advantages, I typically prefer the spire to the rotor but still have my rotor as a backup and I need it to keep up with my mag when I have the RT in it. The spire doesn't have the reaction time the rotor does.

I was a long term rotor guy, mine is a first gen with a shark fin as an upgrade. That thing served me well but the two things that really got me to switch were 1) the capacity of the 3. I think 220 is just about perfect. I used the 280 shell on the original spire and it's kind of annoying because you dunno a pod in and out looks like there's room for another one but if you try to put a second in you find out there's not enough space so you typically end up running around with a bunch of dead space in the hopper. With 220 you can reload when it gets low-ish and still fit a full pod in. With the rotor you basically have to shoot it dry to get a pod in

And 2) I needed to shoot reball. I do all my testing at home with reball and with the rotor that's a no-go

I been using a the same hopper so long, I know just by the weight and feel of it when it’s time to reload. Just never felt the need to change what works. Guys I would play with were always buying the latest hoppers.
