Barrel kits with lots of options

Who makes barrels kits these days with lots of options like the old style freaks used to have, you know colors, dífferent length tips other then just 14, different style tips, I would just go freak but it seems like they get bashed a lot these days idk why cause they been around forever it seems like something to do with their inserts idk, also would be nice if I could get backs in cocker, Spyder, and ion

Would also look at kits that are interchangeable with other kits as well

Inception stella has their own backs, freak, freak xl, pwr inserts. Threaded tips, AL tips, carbon tips, carbon threaded tips. Several lengths, custom lengths. That seems like a lot of options. Unsure if they have spyder ones though.

So a single barrel kit that can literally do everything, be interchangable with everything else

Want it to wash your car while it's at it?

Also, why are you concerned with people bashing on the freak if it's what fits your requirements?

The one other I would suggest you take a look at is the deadlywind fibur (yes spelled like that)

The one thing you will lose on your list there is the ability to change length. They are carbon fiber barrels that work with the freak inserts. They have the normal fibur for the 5 inch inserts and the x-8 for the XL inserts depending on what you want. The threads are an interchangable back piece so you can change threads really easy. They are also extremely lightweight. If you order from their site you can also spec the porting you want.

The one thing I will say about their barrels is be careful when you first get them, DW does not debur the threads. I have cut my hand on 2 of their barrels because the threads are like scalpel sharp. Run some sand paper over them just so you don't cut your hands

I did the same thing as Cdn_Cuda. Found a used DW fibur kit with a complete 5” freak insert kit for just over $100 total. Super light, and with $15 I can buy a thread back for anything on the market. I have backs for the A5/Phenom, Ion, and of course A/C.

DW also makes the MOAB system that’ll do 8” freak or PWR inserts. Doesn’t check all your boxes, but it is flexible I suppose

I'd try the crbn barrel if they had a 12 in version

The only CF barrel series to use Smart Parts Freak inserts. Fibur-X now with swappable threads.

        This is what I have - Fibur-X (not X8)

        They have a 12” version.

Inception Stella. Sure, no colors aside from black unless you reanno.

The only thing the Freak gets bashes for is being Smart Parts, and that brand leaving a bad taste in the mouth of paintball. And Freak inserts, especially aluminum, aren't actually the size they're marked with.

Have you looked at all of Custom Products' offerings? Not a kit, but you can get Classic Barrels or Two-Piece Barrels in all types of threads, lengths, and colors. Their Tactical Barrels offer different tip options, but I think the tactical stuff is all black.

Yeah I was trying to have one kit that would work for all my markers to make things easy and not have 3 or 4 different kits

I've been using the same Freak kit for years. Bought it new in spyder thread way back in the day and have used it on pretty much everything. I have backs in Spyder, Cocker, ICD, A5, and Angel (and I think a m98 somewhere), and a drilled barrels for AT-85 and ion. I have tips in red, blue, green, black, in 10", 12", and 14" length (not all combinations of course), and even one unported.tip. Do the inserts match exactly the number listed? Don't know, don't care. The smallest is smaller than the second smallest, which is smaller than the third smallest, and so on through the entire range. Close enough. Shoots good, shoots constant, shoots similar whether on my most expensive electro or a $20 blowback.

Do I dislike the business practices of the owners of Smart Parts? Of course, I do own an AKA gun.
Am I a fan of their guns? Nope, I swear ions develop a leak just being in my presence.
Am I a fan of their barrels? ABSOLUTELY. Back in the day they were one of the few companies that not only made barrels for my first gun, a Stingray II, but even had multiple styles of barrels for it, and they worked well on it too. That earns a lot of good will in my book.

What are prices like for the older freak parts, IV been looking at the newer kits and some of the prices kinda make me sick I mean $250/$300 for a barrel kit 😮

Of course when it's al said and done I could have well over that in a crazy freak kit for all my markers

I'm curious what does AKA have to do with smart parts?

Old freak stuff are generally cheap and plentiful. Usually can get insert kits for about $100 CAD.

Psycho91 - AKA was one of the main victims of the Smart Parts electro lawsuit.

If you're not familiar with that, it can summarized by saying SP "modified" their original Shocker patent in a way that included any electronic gun, then went after every paintball company making electros under the guise of "patent infringement".

WDP did their research, figured out who the other person on the patent was (besides the Gardner brothers), and bought the rights to their portion of the patent, then took SP to court... but at that point it was too late for a lot of companies.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."
