YOUR BOARD WILL BE DAMAGED IF YOU DO NOT TRIM THE RETENTION SLOT.
After lots of plastic trimming from the Halo Pro shell kit, the V35 internals fit. Initially I thought I'd trimmed enough for the board to fit without its components inferring with the retention slot, and ended up breaking pieces off of the board.
Whoever designed this shell kit screwed up big time, they could have easily designed the board slot to accept older boards, and could have easily designed the battery compartment to fit 6 batteries instead of 4. From my point of view, the main customer base for these $50 shell kits are people with older Halos with brittle shells...and those are exactly the halos which aren't compatible by design. No one's going to buy a modern halo for $50 to spend another $50 on a shell kit. Ranting but just annoying it was so ignorantly designed and marketed.
To those who want to try this mod:
-remove 4 battery spacer and velcro
-cut battery standoffs off
-sand standoff locations flush
-heavily trim outer side of board retention slot so that it doesn't make contact with board components (this is the most important part)
-sand v35 battery holder if you want a couple extra mm clearance, but not required
(board component R17, bottom right, was a resistor? marked 233. Any idea where to buy a replacement?)
