After a weekend of paintball insanity I found myself having the bug to actually play with some sort of regularity (I know. a WILD concept) and on my journey I came across a pricing structure that just really rubbed me the wrong way.






Now, I understand that running a compressor and having the tanks is an expense, and if they want to charge for air fills, that's fine by me. But if it's going to be a required cost, why not just make it say "$35, includes unlimited air refills"?

I also have to admit that being shown a price listing like this (but without the required tag) on the air also makes me feel more inclined to play Stock Class for some reason, probably spite. I must be getting old.


Am I totally out of line here? And for the record no I don't plan on going to the field and going full karen on them over their pricing structure lol

If I show up with 12ies or even full tanks then I’m left scratching my head wondering why I’m being asked to pay for something I don’t need. If the price is
just $35 then this doesn’t even come up. It just seems silly to me. But I’m just a simple caveman, society’s ways frighten and confuse me.

Most fields I've been to in the last 20 years have gone to self-service, free air just because it's one less task for their referees and other employees to have to deal with.

There's a couple fields near me with the same pricing and even when I say I'm using 12grams and not their air they still make you pay for air. I've argued and they said there wasn't even a way in the system to just charge for entry and not air. Definitely infuriating, just add $5 to the cost of entry!

Even if Im using 12 grams, I usually bring my tanks to fill, since I'm paying for it anyway.

In many countries it's illegal to not give the price with all taxes included, price without taxes is an American thing ...

Hm. Had to check the local field's site. Forgot what they charged. Says $25 entry + air. Even if I don't use air, $25 is still a good price. I want this field to stay open - there are no other options I care to explore in this area.

If you just get air (i.e., not playing), they list $1.50 per 1000 psi. I've gotten just tank fills before, I don't think they ever bothered with doing that math - it was always less than whatever that would've been.

our local field its $20 admission +$10 all day air. I have 2 boys and typically a friend with them so that is an additional $40. I can fill tanks at home with my GX compressor and have enough tanks that we likely would not need to re-fill, but they get really weird about it and you have to force them to take it off the tag and not charge you - they just can't comprehend that I don't want it! cheaper - not likely after you add up 6 tanks and regs, and a compressor, but hey - it feels better!

Its just a mind game - $30 and free air? cool! ( its should be $25 but whatever) or $20 and pay for air - not cool!

I don't begrudge any field owner a reasonable charge. You gotta keep the doors open. But I admit it is annoying. Just roll air into the field fee like everyone else

I kind of like the discount honestly. -$5 pays for my 12g for the day.

As long as they are not charging per fill now that would really grind my gears.

On that note, I once played at a field that sold you an "air card" a little laminated card that had a bunch of "1000" and "500" around the edge. They would hole punch the card for every 1000 or 500 they filled your tank

That field was indoor and one of the coolest layouts I've ever seen but still
