Generic gear equivalents for paintball use

Going to pre-face this and say, yes, spending the extra ~$10+ for all of these will generally get you a much more efficient/sturdier product for the paintball specific one. But at the end of the day, these will all work for you to save some money.

If anyone has any other additions I can add to the list, I am all ears. For the sake of keeping it consolidated, lets leave out anything you wear like pads/cleats, or requires anything other than taking it out of the packaging to use.

Canning funnel (~$8) - More compact and cheaper caddy solution.

    Extendable microfiber duster (2 pack) (~$8) - Pod swab/cleaner

    Mouse/KB desk pad (~$12) - Tech mat

IKEA Door mat (~$4) - Tech mat (thankyou Trbo323!)

14in Padded Laptop Sleeve (~$26) - Marker case; These have the benefit of pre-made inside stretchy loops which can easily be adapted for inserts as well as a thicker/more durable shell.

13in Padded Laptop Sleeve (~$10) - Marker case; Less padding and no inside webbing but still perfectly usable.

Shoe washing bag (2 pack) (~$14) - Squirrel sack (cleaning dirty paint).

Microfiber drawstring bag (6 pack) (~$14) - Mask/Lense/Hopper/Tank/etc carrying bag.

Heatshrink (~$8) - Add grips to your marker (thank you Snood for these!)

Portable HDD case (~$6) - Carry ~4x OG freak inserts(thank you Snood for these!)

GPS Carrying case (~$15) Carry ~4x XL freak inserts.

    $2 tech mat

IKEA makes a great tech mat, they just call it a door mat. Flip it over and use the rubber side. I glued a couple of magnets in the corner of mine and if it gets old and worn out, $2 to replace it

I'm not a fan of microfiber anything really. Microfiber is a plastic fiber so it doesn't absorb really well, I find it moves paint around over absorbing it a lot of the time. I stick to cotton whenever I can

Not to be a necromancer of dead threads, but I am happy to report that the shoe washing bags work beautifully to clean up bad paint. Had a case of old marbs I wasn't able to shoot more than one ball at a time without pulling the rotor's jam trigger. After cleaning them up in the bag, no more feeding issues.

Need to update you OP prices. Sadly enough, a $2 tech/door mat, just 4 months ago is now $4 (3.99). I don't know, if thats the same mat as before though.

Here to add a couple ideas I have seen suggested around the forums:

Heat Shrink tubing for adding grips: Heat Shrink
      or
Portable hard drive case for 5" Freak inserts, I think they fit like 4 so if you only have a handful these are nice.

Edit update: I did order one..as long as the internal dimensions are longer than "5 it should work. Here's a cheap one I found in the Amazon. Insert Case

You can fit 3 comfortably but jam 4 in there but it still closes with no issues.

In the past and still do on occasion. I have used laptop backpacks to carry guns and gear. They are very similar to the paintball backpacks but lack the straps for barrels.

They often can be had cheaply at triftshops, yardsales etc.

here ya go, i invented this just for this thread

        https://youtu.be/P6OZHL8t0YA?si=_xrCM_lM3RDfw77D

i thought this was cool and wanted to try it out, but theyre out of stock AND cost a gorillion dollars.

i was cleaning up the other day and found a bunch of these cheapo "triglide" clips that work the exact same way for about $.75 a pair
