Hitmen Air-powered Time Trials?

I've seen them on the web and our local field is running them. I did my first ever run on it and did ok. Definitely room for improvement. It's a 3 stage, 83 target, timed course that gets harder with each stage.

When they get it connected to the main database, your times will be up on the global leaderboard. It's pretty cool!

Meh.... Local field has it and it's at best a novelty at worst a waste of field space.

What i can't understand is why it's a timed target course if they have no means to record that you hit an actual target

Just a silly gimmick.

But it's a fun gimmick.

If they are running it correctly, there is a ref checking your times and if you are within the target space. It's akin to a real steel course. Also, you know when you hit it. The plates sound vastly different than hitting the pipes it any other object. If you haven't run it, give it a try. Leaderboards are always woo.

I mean technically 3 gun in firearms has no way to do this either.

There's a referee/RSO that follows you through the course but I really doubt there is any field that has the kind of disposable income that something like that would require

It gives people who would not ordinarily play paintball an opportunity to compete against other people with a paintball gun. Go have some fun, shoot some targets, do not worry about being hit. Kids too young to play, people who come with you to events they do not really want to get hit. Something to do during down time at big events. Corporate team building type of events. This is outside of another way for players to compete against each other via a clock. The competitive nature of some of the players on the field will drive people to do this and try to do it faster. It is hardly "just a silly gimmick".

They had a dedicated ref and days for it and maybe a player would do it..... They even advertised it to bars ect but it garnered no interest. It's still up but nobody uses it any more.

Yeah unfortunately. Not sure what the plan is for it but honestly at this point take it down and put the field back it replaced.

Yeah at a indoor field that is some prime real estate. If it's a large outdoor field then I could see leaving it year round. But looking at that video, there was less people there than you would put in a standard game. Also, I can't imagine running the course multiple times is very fun, it's not like playing paintball where a million different things can happen in different games on the same field

So THAT’S what that setup was. Saw the LED board & orange squares but never could figure out what it was. Didn’t bother asking though. I was too busy playing the different fields.
