What would you like as a rental

If you were to see a field promote itself, what would you like as a rental? Extra Paintball with a referral? A $ gift certificate at a discount? À spécial package Price? Any other idea you May have?

Trying to up my game and do single player to group options to promote my local field. They have the group figured out already but it 15players+.

    thanks

Some kind of deal on paint. That's the stuff that really adds up.

I feel like a discount on a new mask when signing up for the first time/ joining the email list would be effective.

Everyone likes the feeling of a new mask, and it's a memorable "souvenir" to take up shelf space while reminding them to go back.

If they take the discount, add them to a list of potential repeat players for more targeted follow up.

A local field did this during COVID which was a good idea. Unfortunately the rest of their business model is terrible.

Great Idea, Single Lense goggles fogging constantly and no breathability is a good way to turn people off of the game. Even just renting decent masks would be great improvement for renters.

I think they do it with their 29.99$ new mask option on a 43.95$ single lens mask. Noted on thermal mask.

I used to run a field, and I'm a CMO now (or VP Marketing or whatever you want to call it).

I think the gear discount is a great idea - gear lasts longer than just the next one time they show up. It incentivises people to keep coming back.

So rather than just "please show up one more time here's a discount please", it's "this will make all your paintball experiences more awesome". It's a much better idea for sustainable growth.

Masks would be number 1, but also consider discounts on any kind of gear that makes their life as a baller better. So, pads, gloves, hats and headbands. I wouldn't bother with guns.

The second major thing I'd try, again thinking beyond just the next game, is discounts on memberships. You tune the membership paint discount so it pays for itself for the player in approximately 3 visits after the discount, or about 5 before. It needs to create an incentive beyond the next one game.

The third thing would be to engage a kind of influencer marketing lite. So, depending on the referral, you might get a branded hat or teeshirt. This has a few effects. One is the obvious, that hopefully it's a conversation starter, but honestly this is a very minor effect and I wouldn't worry about it. The MUCH more important effect is the brand loyalty it creates. People wearing a top with your logo start to identify with your field. They feel like paintball, and your field, is part of who they are. It reminds them how awesome paintball is and how awesome it is to support local. Effect: they keep coming back, and keep singing your praises.

Four, and this is one I haven't see anyone do much - let's say you have a referral discount card that gives people access to all the benefits listed above. That's cool and all, but before they can get it, they need to post about you on their chosen social, with photo. So you set up a photo booth frame type area somewhere on the field, the person and/or group all pose there with their masks and guns, and the frame design has your field details on it. I think you know what I mean. The key is it's not YOUR camera, it's THEIRS. You can take the photo for them, but it needs to be with their phone/s, on their social feeds. Once they do that and (if you want to) you verify it by looking up the hashtags (maybe that = teeshirt, no hashtag = just regular discounts), you can be liberal with the discount cards. It's your payment for the marketing boost they're bringing.

All of the above are probably more effective than paid social or google ads.

      1) BOGO rental package coupons with a 2-4 week expiration date given out with rental packages. It'll encourage players to come back soon enough to build a habit and encourage them to bring a friend.

      2) The mask idea is brilliant. Players don't have to make the leap into a complete set-up, or buy some cheap package on Amazon that ends up being a downgrade from rentals. If it's offered as a bundle with future admissions or paint you can get past many MAP limitations. One idea might be a 500-1000 balls with a mask package only offered to rentals. Players might get it at the beginning of a session or they might do it after they blow their initial paint because they're having fun. The new mask plus the paint will make them get more out of their rental experience and more likely to make it a habit. You can do the same thing with headbands or gloves - basically stuff that a rental player can put on immediately and feel more invested in the game.
