Currently using an upgraded gog enmey. Love it, but I want a more modern/metal marker. My teammate ended up dropping real cash on an adrenaline idol for his mech, Im not exactly about that lol. He does have a cvo he said he would be willing to sell me, which i have to say is the most comfortable marker i have held, but with the options available today such as a used Era or amp, is the cvo worth it even at a cheaper price? Or am i just replacing my enmey with a slightly better enmey? Again, the cvo ergos were absolutely perfect for me.
Suggestions for a mech upgrade?

Eclipse m170r it's "outdated" by model number only you can find the inexpensive used because of that -
There are a bunch of Eclipse gamma core options. Anything in the GTEK or Emek lines will not break the bank but will still give you world class efficiency and paint handlingOriginally posted by Chuck E Ducky:

CVO needs a force feed loader, and too finicky. Aluminum doesn't = better, I would take a stock Emek over almost anythingComment

The PE 180R with the mech frame just flat out works. I had a CVO & the 180R is hands down better.Comment

I’d happily take a CVO, I was looking for one before finding a killer deal on an OG Gtek with both frames. To be fair after using that setup I’m quite fond of the gamma line up.Comment

If cool milling and anodizing is your reason for wanting an all metal mech, then Inception Designs has some really nice body kits for the Emek & Etha 3M. Just keep in mind that a fully upgraded kit is going to run you close to a grand if you buy new. That being said, if all you're looking for is performance, then a stock Emek or 3M with an adjustable trigger and a pen spring will do just fine. The rest is all aesthetics and small quality of life upgrades. Something like a used M170R would be a great middle of the road option. If you can, try to handle both the M170R (or a mechanical 180R) and an Emek/3M to see which feels best to you ergonomically.Comment

personally i would avoid the SP line. If you don't like it and plan to sell they tend to lose their value pretty quickly. I would also avoid the dsr, mainly because their are like 15 different bolt changes now.
The m170 is nice, but i couldn't get over the finger hump on the trigger frame. Some people like it, i did not.
I tend to like older markers that have a bit more soul. If you don't care for that i would still stick with PE and go either emek or 180.BeardedWorks.com (Your Inception Designs and Shocktech Dealer)

I buy Automags and Mag Parts also.Comment

For me “Soul” = making memories playing paintball. Any marker I’ve fielded for a while has this for me.
I tried a classic automag and a minimag, but honestly preferred my old T98, which I still have, and sold the mags. I get this probably sounds like blasphemy here, but I just couldn’t get good paint handling on the mags, reducing the fun.
I have an OG GTEK and a GMEK. They’re my favorite shooters, and therefore have been given souls. Those mags I had just blew confetti and I didn’t like the way they felt. From an engineering and materials quality perspective they’re super cool. Just not my jam. No soul imbued, sold them.
CallMeSpoons - shoot a bunch of stuff, find what you like, and paint faces. That’s the soul of the game. -
Yeah, I don't buy the whole "no soul" argument either. For me, my Emek and 180R feel great and are plenty fun to shoot. Yeah, they don't have the same aesthetic as my Cockers and Mags do, but to say they're soulless doesn't really work for me. I'd say they just don't have the same feeling of nostalgia as the classics do.

To be honest its the slim ergonomics that I like about the SP line. Specifically the xls cvo. But it seems like the general opinion is that its a very finicky marker. I dont mind plastic, I rock a gog enmey that i love. I wasnt a fan of the emek trigger, but i know theres a bunch of different triggers out there.personally i would avoid the SP line. If thr CVO is cheap enough, its not a bad choice. It won't depreciate any more at this point. I have an XLS/CVO and the ergonomics are great for me. Its not reliable though, its gone down like 4 times during games at this point for leaks.
I also have an Etha2 which is electro Emek and in same time, it has had zero issues. Just always works. But i dont like PE ergonomics for some reason.Comment

CVO is still completely viable and a huge leap from the Gog. Other than that I would say anything planning Eclipse with the gamacore. I just got myself Etha 3M and I'm absolutely in love with it but it does have a composite frame if that matters to you.Comment
