    Dye Rotor dieing

I got an old dye rotor that the motor seems to bog down easily and is either slow to restart or doesn't restart. I've adjusted to tension up and down and it doesn't seem to make a difference. The thing looks like it's got some miles on it. Before I go and order a motor is there anything else I should check or test?

Just double checking- you’ve put in brand new batteries right?

Batteries first, when it's having issues, have you ever noticed the light on the power button going off?

Reason I ask is the boards are a known issue once they get past about 10 years. I had to replace mine but it's a fairly cheap fix, around $25 when I did mine

I spent a lot of time adjusting tension on a classic Rotor. It would "jam" on the gun, and I would pull the shark fin multiple times, then it would shoot, then "jam". Took the thing off and it would feed an entire hopper rapidly with no issues (and no back pressure). After fighting for awhile, I ordered a new motor (https://ansgear.com/dye-rotor-gear-b...ire-r80001215/), and that didn't solve the problem. So I ordered a new circuit board - https://ansgear.com/dye-rotor-gear-b...ors-r80001214/ - and this solved all my "jamming" problems. I put the old motor in and just had the new circuit board and everything worked fine.

So net net, the circuit boards burn out in some fashion, and that fixed my problem. During my fights I also picked up another Rotor and a R2...

Oh heck... Mine just started doing this and I blamed the field paint. Huh, I wonder if I'm having the same issue

Yes batteries were fresh and new. Light goes out when the motor stops and gets dim when it bogs. I almost got a new motor but figured I'd ask your guys first, and it sounds like a board is a better place to start.
        Thanks

Really the best place to start is to get a spire.

But to then fix your backup rotor, yes I would start with the board

Well I'm on the right track. A Spire was the first loader I got to update the arsenal. This was supposed to be the back up to the back up. Or something.... maybe just to have more stuff.

Lol I feel you. I have an og rotor as well that also had the board die. I keep it as a backup and I need it for my mag as well. The spires don't have the fastest reaction time. They are fine for tournament ramping modes because the first few shots are semi auto so you are not going at fill speed but a mag with a RT on/off is a different beast. Hopper needs to load at full speed from ball 1 to ball 2. My mag only does around 15bps but the spire doesn't always feed the first few so the lvl 10 bolt kicks in to prevent a chop and chuffs a shot which kicks the marker off of the RT

So it's probably the $25 gearbox board, not the $50 main(?) board, from ansgear?

Also I'm probably rarely ever going to need something that'll feed at that kinda speed, but who knows, I haven't gotten addicted to that aspect of things, yet. I'm sure it's coming, though.

This one. The $50 one is for the box rotor, it's a mag feed box mag, won't fit in yours
