Looking for a unique barrel recommendation for a CCM MBP project

    Hey there everyone,

I have a raw MBP project I am slowly working on, over last few months I have gotten all the tricky bits. Now I am onto the fun bits (potentially a shorty reg, aluminum custom grips, hopper or stock class feed), but right now I am on the barrel.

I am looking for something that compliments the marker, rather sleek/streamlined and not too busy. 12" would be the sweet spot on length. I don't mind a need to bore it if its an older barrel to take an insert to get it to modern paint size. Aluminum is the goal, as I want to anodize it to the theme I am after.

Been doing a lot of searching over a month or so:
    - Sanchez SM1 Buzzar Carter: love the look, but its too short and I dont like how the insert would break up the body lines.
    - PMI Perfect bore: Maybe if the tip was cut off, likely too short
    - Xcel 14 with tip cut off - dont like jewel even if replaced
    - Smart Part Linear: IDK what to think. Bit busy on milling, but it is streamlined and visually interesting. 14" may be a bit long
    - OG all American: glued 2 piece just seems like a hassle.

I figure with the vast knowledge on this forum, someone is going to know of something unique and fitting, especially with some of you having barrels that date way back. Also not opposed to machining a barrel, but this is the most expensive option by a mile.

Appreciate your thoughts as I organize my own.

How about a few sizes of the J4 PAT?

These are gorgeous. You know what the length is on these? They look to be on the longer side.

Full length control bore is wild. Have not seen that since the UNITEC.

The CCM Short regs blow BTW they choke at anything over 450psi input. Use your full length and you can even run 12g co2 pressure as well.

I’m a big fan of the J4 PAT barrels. My personal favorite is the Pump PB Tight stick. But the PAT barrel is the same thing with a slimmer profile.

For pump I really like my one piece barrels.

Appreciate the heads up on the shorty regs. Guess I was more focused on aesthetics.

The tight stick is a sweet looking piece. They look like they are hard to come by. Busy, but in an appealing way

Cosmetically, i like Un1tech & Lurker barrels (the older versions). No jewels, no obvious branding. But both are 14" only.

I also like the original one piece barrel that used to come with the Mini GS. I think that was 12".

I tried a unitech, just didnt flow right imo. I love those barrels, the threads are chefs kiss. But the Mini got me going down a path that led to AXE 1 piece, and thats on the potentials list now. Thank you.

my move would be a cheap, old one piece and get it freak bored.
i have sent out 3 all American glued barrels, had them freaked and reannoed. zero issues. anno guy didnt have them come apart, dude doing the boring(bmc) said they all spun true. and hes super picky

i think something with simple lines like the AA or older Dyes or the barrels ChuckLove posted would look good on ccms.

my absolute favorite barrels are 14" Bob Long LongShots.
but they dont pop up often, and you have to gettem bored. The Nova/Sconi Epsilons are close enough for most folks.

I used one years and years back. It was one of the best I've shot.

I’m also a big fan of Dye UL. The new UL-S are nice and they fit CCM bodies nicely.

Looking at the marker, I could see a BOA Snakebite complementing the aesthetic.

i love a stainless barrel, but i think most ccm guys would complain!
"Whaddya mean you dont want a barrel that weighs more than the marker??!?!!"

BOA never made a stainless barrel.
The Snakebite was brass with hard nickle coating.

I know a lot of people change them but the CCM barrels are awesome. (Get the .681 and smaller sizes)

Only reason I change mine out is I personally prefer a longer barrel. But the CCM are on the shorter side like you like are nice and thin at the tip like a Phantom barrel. Lots of options for sizers that will look amazing all anodized up and matching.

I’m running a classic teardrop style CCM on my new T2 I really like the look. But the newer barrels are really nice ported well and high quality.

I second this. CCM barrels with their short sizers work fantastic with today's egg shaped paint.

From what I have seen, these are very hard to come by, no?

Your standard CCM barrels are easy to come by. Some of the other more unique ones are harder to find but not impossible.

This choice may seem, well, rather pedestrian.... But a later Freak back with the large fluted insert windows, paired with an older All American tip in either 12" or 14" (or, why not both?) would match the lines of the body pretty darn well. No modification needed, other than maybe de-jeweling the tip.

Now a look I'd like to more of is some properly fluted barrels. That trend never really took off with paintball barrels, until maybe recently.

HK Lazr Elite barrels have some nice fluting, if cost is no object and you're willing to, you know, deal with them.

Lets see if these hotlinked images work...

Wait, no, BOTH my suggestions, HK makes a spiral fluted tip for a Freak XL...

          True, that's a closer match.

Really not much I can think of is going to match that big scallop cut on the MBP precisely with out something totally custom.
