New guns are expensive and limited. Older is a better choice for new players. I get and give out old spyders all the time. There is always a demand for them. Helps people get into the sport quickly.
After playing for nearly 40 years I just picked up my first tippmanns. A 98c and a prolite. I've always used spyders as a cheap gun. I kinda like the tippmans. Not as customizable as a spyder color wise but they are probably the better base gun. Much smaller profile.Comment

Which field on which day? If it was Fri at Splatball then their electro cap is 5.5, and in that case one might as well use a mech. Though that place is full of eclipse fan boys, so I'd figure it for a sea of emeks.
If it was out doors, say over in Baldwin at Splattag, the local common knowledge is that tippmans are the best cold weather gun. (This is ofcourse debatable in the age of HPA, but its just what everyone "knows")Comment

Really? I'm happy to hear it, maybe a bit selfishly. Last few times I've played the only blowbacks I saw were rentals, and I don't remember seeing many of them. Mostly axes and minis.Comment

Never used tippmanns. No particular reason, just started on the spyder path. First one I tried was a rental (98 Custom) about 15 yrs ago, when i was visiting the area I now live in. Much like every marker, it got the job done.
Looking to snag an old Pro/Am that needs love. We'll see if i get it, and if i can bring it back from the dead.Comment

Sure it’s not much more than a rental, but If you can have your own for 50$ or less, it’s a great way to get into the sport!
I started with a 15€ spyder clone that I only later found out was missing parts when I bought it.If it doesn't have the [F] i don't want it. - EuropoorComment
