    Mcs 15/4500 tanks $95

    https://mcsus.com/products/powair-ta...mgawxQcl-PO56g

Came across this today. $95 for a 15/45 sounds decent.

Be warned though, it looks like these are not DOT certified. Looks like they have a ISO certification with aome kind of a US stamp. Not sure if that will cause any problems with hydro or not

I always forget what tanks are exempt. Less than 2" diameter, 3000psi, and aluminum?

Anyway, a new 15/4500 carbon fiber is $190. Add two $30 hydros (1 at 5 years, 1 at 10 years). Tank is dead at 15 years. That's $250/15 years = $16.67/year of use.

The tank you linked is $95, and it says it has a 10 year test interval. Even if you can't get it tested, that's $95/10 years = $9.50/year of use.

Now, it's a little heavier than a carbon fiber tank, and I wonder if some fields might not allow you to fill it without a DOT cert (if they actually care/check).

    Seems like a good find.

I saw this earlier today also but thought it might be too heavy since it wasn’t a fiber wrapped tank.

I've been eyeing it for my under barrel mount vm68. I'm not concerned about the weight so much. It can't possibly be more than a 9oz CO2 tank. Just wish I'd was a little longer for a bit more volume.

These 4500 tanks are not subject to the 2” rule. That being said, the certification is UN ISO, which is acceptable in the US. You just need to send UN ISO tanks to a company certified to test them. I use Hogan’s Alley to certify my UN ISO tanks.

I have one. The 15ci is significantly shorter than a First Strike 15/45. I added an ASA spacer and its fine. It's been holding air at just over 4k for months now. It's noticeably heavier than a CF tank, as it's some kind of steel alloy.

I also wish it were a little longer or little bigger capacity, but for that price it seems like a great deal

Seems to be 850, but I suppose I could rig up some kind of tester. I'll bring it with me to the cold ass B-day game

Weird, the product page just says it's compatible with standard regs, nothing about one coming with and the photo doesn't show one either

Ah, I bought mine from HR Tactical for $120 and it came with a reg.

I do like that it's shorter than my FS Hero 15ci (which is nearly 9" without reg). Added weight could be negligible, depending on reg. Or negligible regardless, since modern regs can't be more than half a pound.

My Hero is 16.6 oz with basic Ninja reg (and 2kpsi). MCS steelie is 16.2 oz empty & reg-less (based on this listing).

Side question: on my bottle, there's a date labeled "Service 2036/11." Is that different than hydro testing? Its born date is Nov '21, making the service date = end-of-life if this were a DOT bottle.

So 16oz vs 18ish . Considering the size of the tank, percent wise that's a decent chuck but overall setup is not a ton

The date sounds like it's service life span. I don't think it's saying take it to the shop for service

According to the website, they're good for ten years before needing tested. I figured I'd try one out for my magfed setups. At that rate, I'll be 60 before it even needs tested again. With a thirty-year lifespan, this tank will outlive my remaining paintball days (mid-life crisis intensifies).
