Prototype guns that never came out

Going thru my old pictures and I thought I'd post up some pics of some prototypes that never came out. Some of them are pretty wild.

Ho Bao (the RC car company) Bobo

    Revolve

Thin Air Zealot (obviously the second picture is more developed)

And of course the Deadlywind Aedes

Always fun to see the things that never quite made it out. Anybody else have pics of random forgotten prototypes? Some are obvious, like the Avratech Falcon or the Alien Revelation. Where's the truly forgotten pieces?

I think about the aedes and zealot a lot for a sane person.

that first one looks like it came out of the factory that made DM7s, so this makes me feel like that pic is 2008 or 2009 lol

My white whale has been trying to find any of the functioning powerlyte isis that were released for testing at IAO in like 2001 or 2002.... Could even be another year.

I used one in a game it shot amazing had that come out at that time it would have revolutionized the game. Imagine something the size of a SFT shocker years earlier.

Another one would be Bob Long's original defiant.... Some of you may be going that was made. No, prior to using the name on a rebranded fancy looking Bushmaster he was working on a completely mech clothed bolt ram power driven hammer mech.

It was hyped up tested written about photographed a few times and then completely abandoned.

I might have analog photos of both I will update this post if I find them.

not a great marker but still kindda cool (to me) are my kingman spyder prototypes.

Everyone knows the E99 and E99 Avant. But there was also the E88 and E77 both of which i have. always thought that was neat.

The Deadlywind Aedes was the most highly anticipated in my eyes. The Powerlyte Isis was a close second.

The saddest prototype story has to be the Lurker Paragon turned Dye DLS. I believe that it could have been a success if it wasn't for the fact it was made by Dye and Beta tested by customers who paid almost $2k for it.

I believe PBCR/2Xtremes had a CAD drawing of that back in the day. I recall we analyzed it thoroughly to understand just how it worked, and wondered what, if anything, made it better than a typical 'Cocker, other than being a bit more compact.

The Bobo and Revolve I had completely forgotten about but recognized instantly! Shame they never saw mass production. The Zealot looks like a beautiful marker as well. Didn't the Bobo also come advertised as coming with some sort of mirror you could attach to the barrel or am I thinking of something else?

I'm so curious about the Ho Bao's Derringer--style grip and whether it would have been comfortable at all.

            Also, behold the Diablo Vendetta.

Isn't that an Air Challenger (WE MAKE IT POWERFUL) body? I forget what they call it, but I have a pic saved on my home computer.

We could always go back to the original: The Destroyer.

For those not around back then, picture the sport as still basically pump-only. A "semi auto" was a double action like a Jaguar or a Rapide. Stick feeds were still the norm, with a 40-round "Ammo Box" loader being pretty much the only bulk loader available. Most people still run 12-grams, though 7 and 10-oz tanks are available.

No internet, so you get all your information from a few magazines, mainly Action Pursuit Games, one of the only ones sold widely on newsstands back then.

Now, somebody shows a full-page ad for a true semi auto, with a drum feed and 'constant air'.

That'd be like somebody, today, putting out a photo of a supposedly fully-functional Gatling gun.

I forget the whole sordid tale- I recall seeing the ad, but never heard the backstory 'til years later. Basically they did make a mostly-functional prototype, but it had too many bugs they couldn't work out, and/or didn't have the funding to mass produce it.

Maybe one of you other old-timers knows more of that tale....

When was that ad run? I remember it but, I swear it was in the same issue as those for the SMG-60/68, it may even be in my first paintball mag I bought (I have since re-bought it). That SMGs struck me as being so far ahead of the pumps at the time.

Oh, and there's also the Macho-Fire, a magazine-fed inline blowback that fired proprietary football-shaped paintballs, the SATCO 700 which was an incredibly complex semiauto that was actually sort of produced, but never made it to the shelves, and Line SI was working on- and showed pics in the magazines- of a "drop in" semiauto conversion for the old Bushmaster pumps, that never went anywhere.

I never liked the football-shaped description, Gelcap pill shaped would be better (less pointy). This was the first product, after I had my Bushmaster, that I actually awaited. Years later, and years ago, Bill Mills told me that the inventor of the Macho Fire didn't have enough money to have dies made for the .68 long when it came time to demo the gun and rounds. The .68 short was simply the result of a horse pill die that he was able to source. Unfortunately for him, if not for all of us, the .68 shorts didn't fly well enough to sell (they're too short to benefit from increased sectional density, and possibly even to take much advantage of rifling). Things might've turned out different if he was able to get the .68 longs out to testing/market. The whole claim of breaking easier on the seam may not have ever panned out.

I've never heard that about the Line SI adapter. Makes sense.
