    Less-Popular Hoppers

A recent thread about the old Halo TSA hoppers has inspired me; what are some of the lesser-known hoppers that you love/loved? Did you love the Spyder Fasta, or the Tippmann SSL200? I want to hear about them and why you liked them!!

Personally, I loved the old eggs. My first electronic hopper was an evlution 2 purchased at walmart. The balance was bad, the lid design was dumb, and the shells were brittle. But goshdang I still think they were cool. Mine actually lasted quite a while; I had it for probably 10 years before a couple screw holes blew out. Even the original lid and battery door were holding on!! It fed plenty fast, was gentle enough on paint, and I always thought they looked cool.

I appreciated that they tried to bring it back with the evlution 4, but it looked really weird. The Evlution 5 (just called "evlution"), which in fairness is probably closer to a vlocity than an egg, was cool but wasn't around for very long. Probably what the hopper always should have been. Hmm. Maybe I should track one down.

I never used one, but I always loved selling Valken Vmax's. They seemed to be robust and sold at a good price point. Don't recall anyone coming back in with problems either.

Do original Rotors count as "less popular" since everyone uses Spires (and now DRVs) these days?

Lol. I saw the title of this thread and thought of the halo TSA before I even opened it.

But yes. TSA I think is the best agitator ever made and really got overlooked because it came out when force feeders were all the rage

Tilt sensor so it was always pushing paint up towards the feedneck rather than away.

      2 size options

      Led and lcd options

Magnetic lid so even if you don't have it closed all the way the magnets pull it closed. It even has another magnet to keep the lid open when you are reloading so it doesn't flop closed

I loved that the Viewloader Quantum was worse than a gravity hopper.

Rotor ltr is just an original rotor, so it's still sold today

They removed the windows on the top half of the shell. So they are much more durable now. I had to replace the windows on my first gen a few times from cracking them on things over the years.

Viewloader eye force . For the money it was a great hopper for players on a budget.

I think I only ever saw one or two. Never used one. Were the shells ok? They look like they’re roughly the same material/strength as the “regular” halos.

I only really use my prophecy Z2, don't see them too often but they're pretty solid for around $50

I'll be rocking a TSA if I bring out the semis next weekend. Which reminds me I need to charge the Torque. There's a combo you don't see often.

Anyone remember the ubiquitous VL Quantum? What a pile of turds. That little helical "cat tail" did precisely nothing of value, but at least the long track of paint gave a good string if you were clever with your shake and bake routine.

I've been running a halo too lately and that thing has been unreal. No bad feeds for me in about 6 cases. I'll absolutely take that.

I have been as well and it has been great. No miss feeds and only a few in-hopper ball breaks in multiple 10's of thousands of rounds and it sips batteries. I don't know why i don't see more of them.

Same material, the most damage they seem to take is when people overnighted the body screws. I'm sure they can crack in a hard fall though. They were before the modern composite plastics were a thing.

Now that I think about it, a modern printed shell with a better profile would make for a killer hopper

I had one. It was an incredible loader till it wasn't. DXS used to have a booth at Monster Game for a few years and I remember arguing with them a couple of times over that loader to no avail. I think I walked by the booth once and they asked me if I would like to try on their goggles. I said no and they asked why. I replied that if they couldn't get a loader right, why should I trust my eyes even more. The crickets were loud that day.

They got slapped with copyright infringement. Good riddance shells were made of glass.

I liked the VL Eye Force. A little heavy & bulky but was a pretty decent feeder. The shells weren’t as fragile as eggs but mine does have some small cracks despite not having seen a ton of use. I liked the Apache too. The tab sensor was interesting but i definitely had more trouble with it than i ever had with the eyes in a Revy. The LCD version was pretty handy to have. Back when i played outlaw some of us would Velcro a stopwatch to the lid of our Revy so we could keep up with the game time.
