It's pretty cool, but I was half hoping it would rip like the airsoft miniguns. It'd be kick ass on a tank or pillbox type bunker in scenario games I bet.

Seems really cool, just the firing rate doesn't look fast enough to be worth the effort? It's just a test though, so likely add speed once everything is shaken out.Comment

I would love to see it be the real thing, but given the ROF and centered position of the hopper- and the title- I suspect it's an Emek buried in a shell, that shoots through the center of the rotating barrels.
Whatever happened to that one guy that had a demo back in the pre-YouTube days, of testing an aluminum Gatling into a big trash can?

I have seen the development of this on the book of faces...
It's just a body kit more or less with some servos the barrels rotate around the center barrel to fire. It's cute but yeah not really anything innovative or impressive.
Keep in mind the guy who's doing this is not exactly innovative in terms of what he does normally he just makes militaristic looking body kits for mg 100s that are printed on fdm machines.Comment

That's the one. This is the video I had in mind- there was a second one of it firing into a trash can. I see he has similar videos of the later Ion-based gun doing that, but I'm pretty sure it was the original all-mechanical gun. (Supposedly six Stingrays, and he said the sears wore rapidly.)
Somebody send me a blank check so I can take a year off and develop MY idea.

Yeah to me if it doesn't do anything a stock or slightly modified emek can't then what's the point? If it was ripping 30bps out of the center, ok, cool. Not as cool as if it were doing it out of the actual barrels but at least the kid with a rental emek can't also do the same thing.
This one though, still fun just because of the looks but it's the bolt on Barrett 50 cal shroud for an a5. 10lbs of bolt on to do the same thing the stock a5 can

I feel like the mechanical process of making it all work with rotating barrels would be way cooler. Otherwise is more of a prop. Still a cool project! I think any way you do it an electo is going to be faster any way you slice it.
Those barrels would have to rotate line up and fire at speeds that they just physically couldn’t reliably. However if you made it mechanical the ROF should scale prity good. I would take an emek valve and put it on the frame have the rotating barrels trigger the shot mechanically. You would need to have a way to adjust timing so maybe an adjustable cam to hold the valve. Then a speed adjustment on the rotating barrel to find the sweet spot it fires reliably. It needs to spin super constantly otherwise timing will be crap. I would make the rotation electo switch controlled. But the fire pneumatic switch controlled. Then time the speed to its ability. It’s still going to be slower. But I bet you could get it going good enough to get the effect.Comment
