    Rebuilt the Collection with Nostalgia

Something happened last July — the neurons fired and despite not having thought about paintball for 10+ years, I decided it was time to start it back up. I joined a few Facebook groups, re-joined MCB, and the rest is history. Photo below is the current collection with each marker and sometimes even accessories having a rhyme, reason, or connection to my 15 year old self (hakko red dot on the longbow, being a sucker for Dye UL barrels, etc). I’ve re-learned many lessons over the last year and already bought some stuff only to re-sell it because it wasn’t scratching the itch. I’ve completely tore apart mags (only to have to send them in to Bearded Works) and reminded myself how damn frustrating this stuff can be when you can’t figure out where/why the thing is broke. I still have a few more I’d like to hunt down and build up, but man has it proven tough to find a lot of the things that were so common place 15 years ago. The soft goods collection, not pictured, is my younger self’s dream, mainly all Special Ops gear (and still always on the hunt). Funny enough, I still haven’t played yet, but shoot in the backyard with my boys almost every weekend. We’ll be heading up north this summer for a month where I plan on bringing everything and letting the kids and cousins go crazy.

Did I overdo it a little? 100%. Something about nostalgia, simpler times, and finding a way to get my kids introduced into something that I was so all in with many years ago.

I was a couple months later, but the same thing happened to me. 😂 I think I even bought my Longbow from you (maybe?). The Special Ops Paintball era was something else (see avatar).

Like you said, many purchases just didn't scratch the itch and were sold. The Longbow and Phantoms certainly did for me.

    Beautiful collection, thanks for sharing.

      Real nice collection!

Same thing for me. Used to play a lot from about 95-2005.
Sporadically I'd buy some gear, think about getting back into it and inevitably sell it all off.

      This time...
It's a little different. I'm almost 50 and looking at how many years will I be able or willing to go and play?

Better get those games in, friends made, and memories had.

So I got a player quality Phantom, an Etha2 and I'll be picking up an emek shortly. Nothing super fancy, but it'll get me out there.
