3) $1200!?!? Does it have silver internals?

I mean props to tippmann for thinking outside the box but all is going to take is 1 lawsuit from Jimmy getting hit by a stray grease ball or Frank losing an eye when his co-worker John shoots him to take these off the market

I could be wrong but this seems real to me. When you’re talking about time spent with pro HV technicians on service lines a few dollars a ball is fleas on tiger’s back.

Safety is far more important than the money and I think the idea here is that it’s a non-contact way of greasing the switch. Fully safe even powered up. You only have to be a dozen feet away to be certain you won’t get zapped by 40k VAC. When you get closer or the tool you’re holding does...weird stuff happens. High voltage is insane.


I have very little knowledge of what these dudes on the poles do up there but to me it makes sense. This is actually pretty close to paintball’s original industrial use as a cow/tree marker.

As for lawsuits...after the wave of “home defense” crap last year I’d say this is nothing. The flashlight shaped pepperball launcher looked like something I might shoot MYSELF in the face with accidentally. Such irresponsible marketing and branding...fills my head with horror stories.

An Empire Sniper that runs on CO2 of some kind and has a scope would honestly made a lot of sense here.

If you have high enough ROF, and balls are close enough together in flight, could the electricity jump down the path of balls and zap you?

I considered this and the answer is that every ball in the air between you and the source is going to increase the chance of flash arc, just as holding an umbrella in a thunderstorm increases your chance of lighting strike. The max risk point would be when the ball was mid-way there. I was only thinking of one ball but if you went full Angel LCD on the switch I guess more balls is worse. I’d say increased risk of one ball at a time is negligible but it will go up with every ball. Gelatin will conduct this amount of voltage better than air.

I'm no expert but I doubt it. While myth busters was an entertaining show there was some real science behind it. They tested the myth of if you pee on the 3rd rail for a electric train you would instantly die. Turned out the only way that was possible was

1) you have a horse penis to get enough flow so the droplets would not separate

2) you are kneeling down and are already about 6 inches from the rail itself

Basically separation of the droplets by, really any distance caused the electricity to not pass into the person.

So for paintball that's... Well not possible because your barrel would have to be packed with paintballs

Now if you had multiple barrels.....

I'm too tired, someone do some math, at what bps is it just a solid line of paintballs?

It all depends of voltage, I work on 20KV systems and I've seen them ark an inch or two in humid environment ...
some of those system have over 100Kv and can arc several feet!

For Paintball, it will depend what oil is used, mineral oil is not conducive so no problem there ...
