    Preferred barrel system?

I kinda believe tube is tube; but that’s also no fun. I tend to overbore and use the free dummy finger detent system for pumps. Sometimes I will underbore. Mech and electro I try to slightly overbore. Historically I have used a cf deadlywind og freak one piece. Well I went “overbored” and got a bunch of systems to see what I liked best.

I think it reinforced that tube is tube. Boring matters for efficiency and pumps.

I really like the look of the CP advantage one piece. Shoots great.

I have been enjoying the dye uli system with power inserts and the acculock system too. I like how easy it is to remove the inserts on the power and I like the idea of the acculock. The acculock light case and system is nice and compact. Having a ul style barrel that takes inserts is nice. I imagine all the power systems are neat.

What barrels you guys have a preference for?

I've got a few Inception Stella kits and use them on all my stuff.

Love my old Freak XL barrel kit if I'm bore matching. I also like the Shaft FL kit from Planet Eclipse if I'm wanting to keep things simple (comes with .681, .685, and .689). Can also use a carbon fiber tip on the PE barrel.

I have one 5" freak back and one deadlywind freak tip, and that's about all I need. Inserts are cheap and pretty much anything can be bored for 5" inserts at this point if I want something fancy or super specific

I prefer the PWR style inserts usually in a S63 barrel; I use the Dye ones because I like the feel, the chamfer/curve on the entry of them seems nicer than the other ones I have had.

I still use a couple Freak XLs on my one pump because that's what the barrel uses that matches that pump. Still works solid.

Then I have og Freaks for my Phantom and Sterling. I think I prefer the longer inserts, but og needs the og

But I really like the PWRs most, a few small bores for Pump/Cockers and then I have a .688 for the open bore gun.

All I know is that on a colder day with the Acculock barrel, breaking balls no matter the insert. Swapped to a 689 CP one piece, no more breaks aside from maybe a couple.

Paint is painfully bad these days as we all know, so open bolts it doesn't matter. Something marked 689, which could actually measure to 684 or 691 lol.

That's the other thing, stamped bore sizes are hardly EVER accurate so it's really hard to go by that. For a closed bolt, basically anything to stop rollouts and overbore the rest of the way. Fingers, techt ifit, Sconi Epsilon, tape.

Classic Freak due to threading availability and tip variety, though some of the more interesting ones are kind of hard to find these days. Pretty impossible to find, say, ICD threads on any other system.

Though I fully endorse the good old CP one piece. Cover the common threadings, all colors you need, in enough bore sizes to be practical, in just about any length you want.

O.G. one piece Eigenbarrels are what I use. The 678 used to be a tight underbore that was good for recball but didn't self-clear well enough for tournaments, but these days, it's a good match and the 684 is a slight overbore.

I have not really noticed a bug difference, but sometimes some barrels just feel better to some people. I have a lux thread crbn freak barrel and to me the exact same insert in that is better than the stock luxe barrel

CCM Barrels & Sizers on my CCM's. Otherwise, I typically run Dye UL's or a Freak System (Both Standard & XL). On rare occasions when the paint is round I'll run a tight stick or J4 PAT.

I hate insert systems, but I'll use them in a pinch. Single bore one piece barrels are my go-to, Lapco if possible.

one piece barrels bored for standard freak inserts.
boring service (yawwwwn) is usually around $40 with shipping. most of the barrels ive sent out i either got in parts lots or cost around $30.
i use bmc because hes very particular about barrels sitting straight on his machines. a good indicator the bore is centered and the barrel is of decent quality.
im not a fan of the busy milling and tapered cuts most modern barrels get, so it helps that most of the cheapo, one piece stuff is more plain. i like spiral porting and most of that is on the older barrels too.

my favorite is a bored out OG Bob Long Longshot.
theyre aluminum but similar to the stainless j&j, boa, and early smart parts barrels. very light, very quiet and never give the machinist any problems sitting straight.

the epsilon kits are modeled after these, but like always, theres no substitute for the real thing. i know multiple folks who have been having all sorts of issues with the epsilon.

My favorite is the Deadly Winds (Straight double row) whip tip on the 8" Stella back. I own a LOT of barrel systems and this one always wins. It's super quiet and very accurate.
