    Cocking rod gripes

Bought a new cocking rod because the one I had on hand was too short and the non-adjustable head has been loctited or glued on for ages. Well the new rod arrived, but it won’t fit through the ivg. Same thread specs, fits the hammer just fine, but according to my calipers the old rod is .1695” and the new is .1710”. Guess I either need to attempt to drill out the steel ivg or hit the old rod with hellfire to try and break the decades old bond and install the new head.

anyone else ever run into this issue? I guess I just assumed all rods were plug and play

There's some issues with rods and older ivg that are the non threaded style...

I've noticed that ccm, inception and shocktech are all just a we bit thicker

Interesting. This is a meteor rod, going on a meteor m1. My ivg is threaded, but I suppose not a meteor ivg as it doesn’t fit the rod. Probably swapped out by the original owner

Yeah man I've had that exact issue, unfortunately it seems to be a lot of trial and error as they SHOULD be a standard size.

I've had some that you have fandangle a bit to get it thru the IVG but never any that absolutely wouldn't go in.

If you can pull the cocking knob off the rod, you can always swap out the rod for one that works.

Chuck the new rod in a drill and turn down the diameter with a file or stone. I wouldn't worry about 15 thousandths and the thread engagement in the hammer.

I would do this, should only take a minute or two of test fitting then you are all set.
