I had to do something similar with my first Automag in 2001. I was mad that it wouldn't go together, so my dad cobbled up a spacer in the garage with some scrap aluminum, a grinder, and a drill.

The picture is a scan of a picture from one of those disposable film cameras. I could barely afford the Automag; no digital camera or cell phone for me at that time. I don't think many phones had cameras in 2001 anyway...
