    15/4500 For Recball

    Howdy folks,
trying to determine if a 15/4500 would be sufficient for recball. I'd very likely be playing with walk-on rentals most of the time so I'm thinking of a really lightweight setup and running with 1-2 pods + hopper on a spoolie mech.
I just don't want to run out of air in a standard 2 round game. I don't mind having to fill up after each game, since there's free unlimited airfills included in admission.

I think the shorthand is 10 shots per 1ci so it seems like I'd be good for 150 shots but I want to hear some real world metrics.

    I don’t think a 15/4.5k would be enough.
I have a 13/3k and a 26/4.5k here at home. I’ll fill them both up and run a test.
My M3+ is setup for 300fps.

      That'd be great, thanks.
Other option for me is to get a slightly larger aluminum 3000 psi tank, but that weight would start competing with a CF 68/4500 probably.

General rule for 4500psi shot count is something like 15 shots per cubic inch so 15x15 so roughly 225 shots maybe more depending.

For me, yes. I don't need a tank that holds them that much air. Even when I was using an Emek with a 77/4500 and 200 round capacity loader, I only filled up once which lasted all day with plenty of air left, and would carry 2 pods max. I already don't shoot much as it is, so even that was a bit overkill lol. I would still only shoot at or under 1k balls that entire time.

Yeah; I think like 200 to 250 shots. With a pump I am typically fine; some games get hairy and I don’t have enough for the flip and need to run back for air /paint; but most games it is fine. If you are typically running out, then shoot less or carry more.

        M3+ one shot per sec
        Two pods
        26ci/4,500psi with a Hill EVO-310
Riot Balls with a .684 insert
        300fps

Ended with the gauge showing 1,800ps. Who knows what it really is.

I was just thinking about this. I have gone to having only aluminum tanks. Closes place to me to hydro any tank is $50. Brand new tanks are less or little more $40-$60. Then there are few 13/3000 that are exempt from hydro, not sure if there are any 15 or 26 would be too, would be awesome if they do.

Last time I played I used automag for the first half of the day or so. And second half of the day i went pump. I used less than two bags of paint.

So I was wondering if a 13, 15 or 26 would be good move.

And if I was going to keep using 48/3000 should I just buy new and recycled vs hydro testing.

Not a 15/4500, but for reference, 13/3000 yields 150-ish on a stock emek set to 280.

To add another two cents, I really enjoy this 26/4.5k. I find the 13/3k nearly useless.

Yes, it really only works for limited paint / pump. I go through three hoppers when i play with it... 50 round hoppers... :P

You can get an 18ci/3k 2” round 2AL that don’t require Hydro. It’s the length of a standard 68ci tank but 2” around and no hydro requirement. I ran one for years before First strike Came out with there 2” round 4500 tanks. But those need to be re hydro.

yeah, I have a 68/4500 that's out of hydro and expires next November, so my nominal options are:
              1. Rehydro the tank and assuming it passes use it for a year for $45
              2. Purchase a new 48/3000 for $45
              3. Purchase another 68/4500 for ~$100
But since I'm running mech only I figured it'd be neat to try smaller tanks which is why I'm now looking at 15/4500.

The cost is just so tough for me, $170 for bottle only when I could pick up a 68/4500 bottle only for less

The smaller bottles are very expensive in comparison to the normal sized bottles, but they are much smaller and lighter than a 68. I won't probably ever buy another 68. I would buy either a new lightweight 80 or a 36 again. If you need big go 77 or 80 and otherwise go for a small bottle. The 26's are interesting too but I prefer the size and shape of the 36's. They go for around 120. I think ANS has them on sale right now for that much.

Ran a 3rd pod through. The gauge indicates nearly empty and the chrono showed one last ball at 298fps. The shot counter between the second and third pod only counts 130rds. So, 130x3 for a 26ci/4,500psi?

Some of the ISO tanks are exempt from hydro but still expire at 15 years. Probably the best option for us casuals.

Yeah I came here to say this too. This is the right answer! I have (now) 2 of them. I use them on the Emek and EMF100. I had another I used on my LV2. With the 36/4500 I can easily get 4 pods and hopper. I normally only carry 3-4 pods so it was perfect. Now that I'm shooting Forces as the electric, I need a half of a scuba shop with me, but for an Emek or other PE marker, the 36/4500 is great.

flyweightnate I agree the stock reg was slightly too short. this is an old photo, but I eded up swapping out the reg for their higher end extended reach. This tank balances very well compared to the other sizes.

If you're already running a full-size hopper and carrying full-size pods, most of the weight you're carrying is paint. I don't see the point in going with a small air tank at that point. If you buy a high-end tank, like a Ninja SL3 or equivalent, they are very lightweight. Keep in mind that a modern high-end 68ci tank is much smaller than an old 68ci, which would be more equivalent to a high-end 77ci or an 80ci today.

Playing limited paint and running 10-round tubes or 50 round pods with a small 3D printed PaintballDNA hopper is what would really lighten the load for you. Although I personally moved away from that as deciding if I wanted to run limited paint or not and having different pack and pods setups was annoying.

Check out the Sicariis tanks they come on really cool sizes. Going with a 4500 tank it will need to be rehydro regularly. But these are nice and narrow so you can play tight hold a plenty of air for a modern mech marker to rip a few pods and a hopper.

I run a FS 17ci 4500 with a JOLO hopper and 50 round pods. It’s Stock Class phantom light but semi and will rip streams of paint if needed. It’s a lot of fun to shoot.

The new tanks I just posted feel awesome and give you a good amount of capacity without feeling bulky. If I was buying a new tank it would be one of the Sicariis.

My rule of thumb is I like the end of the tank to sit inside of my elbow when I hold the grip frame in my hand across my forearm. The more narrow I can keep the tank the better I can tuck my forearm up and under the tank keeps a nice tight snap shoot profile.

Some back of the napkin math here, but a Mini gs gets close to 12 pods on a full 68/45. If you figgure 140is for a pod that sounds like just over 2.5 pods. If you always get a full 4500 fill you are really close to getting 1 point per fill. I think something a little bigger is a betfer bet unless you are playing pump.
