The POS, the post ironic build.

    The POS –

What is art? Is it a perfectly crafted and meticulously sourced and curated build to evoke a sense of passionate nostalgia? We see this in the autococker market builders making dreams out of piles of newer releases to assert their want for what was….

    All wrong.

Art is not meant to be churned out in mass or duplicated on a consumer level and yet in paintball replicating what can be marketed for profit is the normal course of action t… Some designs should have been left in the past. Weather because of the design heritage or just because technology has advanced to the point where something newer can be designed more easily with out the restrictions that machines had 25 years ago.

To quote the brilliant writers of the show “Mad men”.

“Nostalgia - its delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek nostalgia literally means “the pain from an old wound.” It’s a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards… it takes us to a place where we ache to go again.”

    ― Don Draper

Enter this build…. I came up with the idea last year after “WGP” announced a reissue of the classic STO body style. One of the most iconic designs Bud ever released, I get that it had his blessing but it has an air of “Funco pop recolored Mario so now its new” about it. I decided then and there to make my own but thumb my nose to the aesthetic culture of the game. Make an STO but poorly. I found these carter machine grips on ebay which was a major point of inspiration. Everything came together in under a month.

Ruckus Anodizing did an amazing job of perfectly executing my vision, At the expense of his sanity! Yes, it is imperfect. I asked him to intentionally make it look shitty. The perfectionist that he is struggled to turn of that part of his brain and just let it go! We will be working together again!!

Internals are all first gen shocktech and all other parts were carefully chosen to make this look more of the period when the body came from, the 90’s. With the exception of the CCM kit and cp reg because that is just my preference.

Can’t wait to give people the ick with this pump mid field.

Yes, I designed it intentionally to be "bad" and ran it off myself. There's mine and another out on the wild.

I love it! Should have had Ruckus make two or three parts slightly different shades, for that pitch-perfect parts-box look.

I photographed it too well. The different alloy parts were not isolated so they are slightly different shades.

              Nice!

That pump grip is too nice, though. You need a list of girl's names scratched on there, each one then scratched off.

Or maybe a "Kilroy was here" or something like that.

              Doc.

Very cool!!! I agree with doc that the white is too nice. What if you dyed the grips and pump handle piss yellow?
