I have had this tank and valve floating around my shop for over 20 years now. Never seen anything like it. I believe it came to me with a big box of broken vm68s back in 2000 or so. Can anyone identify it?
Any idea what this odd co2 valve is?

I seem to recall that was a Tippmann thing. It's a "fast fill" sort of arrangement- you have a fill station on a large siphon bulk tank, which has a nipple that you plug that large hole onto.
As I understood it, it automatically vented the top of the tank (the vapor) while allowing in liquid from the bulk tank.
It was supposed to be quick and easy, and less wasteful of CO2- you didn't have to vent most of a tank to "cool it down" to get the liquid in.
Unfortunately, it was mainly a field-rental type of thing, and it showed up about the time fields were starting to switch to HPA.
I wouldn't scrap it- it's probably pretty rare these days. Not necessarily valuable, but if there's such a thing as a paintball museum out there, it'd definitely be a piece for that.

Basically, it allowed you to quickly refill the tank while it was on the gun. It has a tube under the valve, maybe 3 inches, then will vent the liquid co2 when it reaches the tube.
Called the Tippmann "QuickFill". It was a good idea, in theory. We tried them at our field, maybe 96 or 97? Yes, you could quickly refill rental tanks, while on the gun, but the average rental-player did not need his tank refilled. and we also didn't like players walking around the proshop with markers with tanks attached, especially newer players.
And at the end of the day, all the tanks were going to be removed from the guns, for obvious safety reasons, and to facilitate cleaning, etc. The quickfill valves just didn't really work out in practice. Then gradually came the hard push to get rid of co2 altogether.
