What's the deal with visors these days?

My son has outgrown his old mask and he had to borrow my old Spectras this past weekend. Nothing else I had fit him properly since he needs to play in glasses now. So, I'm looking at the different options out there with better lens change systems than the old "tear and swear" JT lens change. The one thing I noticed is that while we both like visors on our masks to keep the sun out of our eyes, most newer masks don't offer them anymore. I'm wondering why they went out of style. Are they just not "agg" so manufacturers catered to the more image conscious players, or is there another reason?

    Smaller profile, I think.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I suspect your correct. They can sell all kinds of mask accessories - except visors. I think its mainly an aesthetics issue with some practicality of reducing things to hit.

i have a mask for sale in BST with a nice visor. (Shameless plug: https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/b...w-thermal-lens). I dont wear glasses so I cannot comment on how friendly it would be in that department. Though - there is no foam where the legs of the glasses would run back to the ears... so I feel like that would be a plus in this department.

Either way, good luck. And I am genuinely interested to hear why visors aren't more common.

I definitely think it's a style thing. But for us function over form old timers a visor is a good thing. I bought a proflex X strictly to bother the proflex Fanboys at the field I play at and ended up liking it. If he wears glasses look at the design of the proflex X. A few of the guys that I play with that wear glasses like the idea that the foam is open on the sides so it's very conducive to wear glasses with.

I just bought my son an invert helix thermal mask and it has a visor but it's a flimsy excuse of one compared to my spectra.

I'm not a visor guy myself but if you're going to offer one make it good at least.

It was $40 shipped from ANSgear and comes with chin strap. Fit his 8 year old face really well.

Virtue sell visors separately but it not something you want to take on and off often.

            they are glasses friendly.

Using the Vio Ascend myself - work perfectly. I have never seen one person with a visor on their Virtue mask.

I use to wear visor to also use the virtue fan but changing the batterieof the fan require taking the visor off and their pins wear quickly so at their visor cost that expensive.

The Spectra fit him very well and I have a Vortex fan that came in handy for him since we were playing in the snow. Because of this, I had actually looked at the Proflex X and it's the mask that got me thinking about this subject. I see they sell visors separately for the Proflex, but I wasn't sure if they're compatible with the X. It just seems so weird that a feature many of us took for granted would fall out of style when it worked so well. Speaking of the Vortex fans, it looks like those are discontinued now too. The one I have is being held on by zip ties since many of the pegs broke off. I just wish more companies made their gear to cater to the average player than the tournament crowd.

I second the Empire Helix. I have one & while the visor isn't real long it's at least something. Fits well too. Good mask for the price.

I just want to say these newer JT masks I’ve bought, the helicopter and snow camo flex, the frames are A LOT easier to swap out. It’s a night and day difference between those and my other older frame. It’s “tear and not swear” which is a pleasant surprise.

Are the Proflex visors compatible with the Proflex X?

It’s not style. Its manufacturing cost. The newest masks are ever more expensive to produce. They just sell them separately so you don’t cry about a $250 mask. Sell the parts separately nobody bats an eye.

Push sells a mask for $250 and you don’t even get the visor LOL

It’s been a while since I purchased a new mask other then LE Flex and a VIO that I really like but I purchased a visor for my VIO because they don’t come with it. They are sold out all over the place and hard to find. (It’s a popular option)

My I5 I found an “Atlas” visor that clicks in the top.

I wish they would bring back Tint to HD fades. Those lenses are 2nd to none when it comes to a good all around mask lens. It acts like a visor without actuality needing one.

If you ever want an upgrade from that look into the e-vents or e-flex. Dane lenses as the helix so if your son has room in the helix he also will in those two. I believe you can get visors for both, I know I have one for my e-vents

Profilers have an awesome visor. It's great for bright days or if it's raining a bit it keeps rains off the lens itself. I also like the tiara, protects the forehead

If they don't plan on producing them, it would be nice if they would release a model and let people 3D print them.

As interesting as that may sound, a 3D printed visor wouldn’t likely survive long.

Profilers are my go-to all-around mask. I don't care for visors, but I love the little bounce crown they came with.

Profilers have the best visor option. Easy to install or remove. The goggles also have a nice little space between the forehead and nose foam for glasses frames. I wish other companies offered the "tiara".

However, on the glasses subject, a couple of my teammates use YouZee clip in glasses. They say they work great. I don't have glasses so I wouldn't know.
