    Time for cleats

After wrecking one pair of shoes and slipping around in another I think it's time for some cleats. I mostly play on a hard but sandy field. What have you guys found to be a good set for paintball?

I wear the prodna low top ones and like them a lot. I’ve had them a full year and they aren’t falling apart which is rare.

before that any type of cleat with a spike on the toe would do, that helps a lot for crawling.

I prefer trail running shoes. They're more expensive than most cleats, but they're significantly more comfortable, and they hold up really well. I always look for a pair with the Vibram MegaGrip soles, or similar, and they perform extremely well.

I use turf cleats latest pair are under armor they seem to be flexible enough to grip on all surfaces and don’t hold mud. They work on Turf to paint covers rocks and dead fall and last way longer then trail runners. Only downside is by the time you need a new pair they are often discontinued they seem to only make each type for about 3 years.

I have worn ones like these for YEARS. They are soccer cleats.

Anything high top. Ankle protection is more important than getting to that bunker off the break.

Under Armor Lacrosse Cleats have served me well, and for a great price. If you’ll do a ton of sliding and crawling pay attention to the material around the toe. You’ll want to get ones that have the slippery glossy material they seem to hold up better in that regard.

As for the toe, get ones where the sole is sewn to the shoe at the toe. Ones that are only glued wear out/bust open there quickly.

2nd vote for trail/hiking hybrid type soles. I found a Merrell set that works well for me (never would have guessed) Wish they were waterproof tho!

Full blown sport cleats created new problems for me on recball/mixed turf & surfaces. I also prefer higher top.

Inov8 and Altra make good mid top and high top trail runners. Indoor soccer are as "cleat" as I'll go.

Salomon Speedcross trail running shoes are the GOAT for paintball imo

I don't have a recommendation for cleats. I'm already old, fat, slow and reluctant to exert myself. Cleats will only anchor me firmly in place. I'm pretty sure I would not be able to overcome the inertia required to slog foreword at my current sloth like pace. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for all the tips. Seems like I should look into trail shoes before I invest in some full blown cleats, It would be good to get a pair of them anyway. I hope to be going out this weekend, so I'll get to ask what the guys down there what they like best for that field.

Nike football cleats have always been my favorite, the old Nike Land Sharks are still my go-to on the rare chance I get to play, haha
