    Neat Item, dumb price

    https://www.uzarskidesigns.com/product-page/basic-100
This is a really neat low cap shell kit for 3 popular loader varieties.
IMO, it is obscenely over priced for a 3d printed item.
Will wait a while and buy seconhand like my Mojo and Jolo.

I love the idea but that’s a high price for a niche loader. Not saying it’s not market fairness value or anything, but as a limited paint guy I’m gonna be hard pressed to make the argument the cost is worth it to myself

I saw that, but regardless of the cost of SLS printing, I still can't justify that price for a shell - especially if I would still need to pull the motor from a perfectly good $200 loader. I'll stick with my old VSL if I want a sub-200 round electronic loader for pump play.

I was all in until they said it only fits the BK CTRL 2 not the CTRL 1 that I've already got. So now I'm going to have to buy a Spire ir2 and this shell kit. It's still the perfect hopper for me. Hoping to have one for next season.

The grips and such that they sell look FDM printed. Was there somewhere that suggested the shells are SLS printed?

Not sure why people seem to think a 3D printed piece should be basically free. I've built out a couple of 3D "products" at this point and the up front development and prototyping time to even get to a finished product ( its never really finished - as soon as you launch a whole new host of unforeseen issues and tweaks become apparent) can be a huge investment of hard screen time and many prints tossed in the bin. if the result is a functional part that fills a need then that has value.

I may pick one of these up - and kudos to this dude for taking the time. after owning a couple of DNA's loaders and printing my own I really do have my doubts about durability, but am really impressed by some of these more exotic filaments. a 100rnd motorized hopper is on my wish list for sure, and if he cracked the code $150 is worth it!

Speaking as someone who has designs of his own floating around out there, I know what kind of time goes into prototyping and producing 3D printed items. That being said, I'm under no illusion that there is definitely a question of value involved here, regardless of how it's made. If you factor in both the cost of the shell and the cost of the donor loader, you're looking at a $380 hopper here. Nobody is saying it should be anywhere close to free, but let's not kid ourselves here. Paying close $400 for a hopper is absolutely insane.

No, we were speculating in the other thread but no evidence has been produced.

Was in the middle of doing one from the ground up for myself. Board and all.

I quit, saved the time and money, and bought this.

Cant wait to get it in.
I already read the manual, the stickies, and all related posts.

I dont think anyone is saying that. IMO people are comparing the lesser quality FDM 3d print with the stronger injection molded part. Higher price, technically weaker shell, or a stronger, cheaper shell ?

Form factor, design time and prototypes are all a thought too, but the argument above is what I believe is resonating with people.

Why don’t you buy your desired cheaper injection molded pump shell from a competitor?

Your argument is that it is inferior to competition that doesn’t exist

Jsc5150 I was pointing out that people are drawing the comparison between existing cost, manufacturing methods and investment costs before the customer even factors in form factor or the fact that there is nothing else on the market like this. Does this fit the bill for exactly what it claims to be? Absolutely.

Amazon and Walmart have ruined Americans lol

The pricing is right in line with Ben’s Mojo

It’s $150 custom shell. You can get a used IR for $60 and have a loader with both shells for $210, stop acting like it’s an absurd amount of money haha

Agree with Jsc5150. Happy that someone is making paintball products available to be purchased.

Value to someone is different for everyone.

More paintball, less people complaining about money.

I agree the cost is high and agree that the designer needs to get paid.

If the designer spent a week on this and wants to be paid $1000 for the work, he can get that by selling 1000 units with $1 margin or 10 units with $100 margin. What he doesn't want to do is sell 10 units with $1 margin, find out no one else wants one, and never recoup the time spent designing these. My assumption is that he's going for 10 units at $100 margin since this is a niche product with limited appeal. And the current paintball market has shown it's willing to spend >$200 for a Proflex designed in the 90's and >$300 for a revamped Rotor, so maybe his pricing is right.

Correct. We can all say the price is too high.

But that doesn’t prevent someone who has the money to buy it.

You do not have to buy it.

                        True.
