Are you effing kidding me GI?!?

Today I had the misfortune of playing at an indoor field that only allows a lower grade of GI paint. This crap had given me issues two weeks ago when I used it but my boys wanted to play on the indoor field, hence we have to use this particular paint. This junk was oily and frequently misshapen. I'll try to attach a Pic of the worst ball I found, which had a triangular shape like a candy corn. We were getting barrel breaks and wingers throughout the day. It was a far cry from the GI 3-star I used on the outdoor field a month ago. That stuff was awesome. So GI knows how to make good paint, they just don't give a fk about quality control when it comes to their lower grades. /rant over

I'm still giving the manufacturers the benefit of the doubt. I think it (most of it anyways) leaves their factories as good product. It's the uncontrolled temp/humidity during shipment and storage (at distributors and fields) that causes it to go to crap.

Per the other recent thread on paint, I think if it were shipped and stored properly, and most importantly, had tracking (e.g., temp recorders) to guarantee proper shipping and storage, paint would be well over $100/case. I think a lot of us on MCB are willing to pay that, but I'd guess most paintball players and renters would not.

That does look like a particularly out of round paintball, but I’m with nak81783 I am going to blame that on the field

It looks like a missing tooth from one of the line employee.

I second nak81783 . Whenever I go to a small local field, I take a look at the conditions the paint is being stored. I can almost always predict the quality I am going to receive. For example, a conex box in 110 degree heat with no temperature controls is going to be bad paint.

Currently I am attending Fulda Gap Scenario at Command Decisions. I ordered field grade and mid-grade paint. Both were given to me straight off of a temperature controlled semi trailer. Both cases have been almost perfect in regards to quality and consistency. I have also not heard any complaints from anyone.

For the same reason, I wouldn’t blame a farmer for a grocery store having rotted produce. I won’t blame a manufacturer for a field, storing paint and crappy conditions.

I’m getting a lot of bounces here at Fulda using the mid-grade. That’s my only complaint. Nothing shoots straight out of a Flatline.

I bought another grade of GI today. Not oily, didn't break in the markers. Not many misshapen or dimpled ones. The problem? They were super hard and barely broke on the inflatables. Some days it feels like I can't win.
