Well, sort of. One of the first guns I ever bought was a Ninja Nightmare. Basically a nightmare with the Crosman stock, underslung 10-ounce tank and a cheap Crosman telescope. Cost about $450, had to order it out of the magazine- that is, actually get a money order, and physically mail it to Brass Eagle in Canada.
In the same issue, was advertised the 68 Special, which had come out not too long before. That, too, cost about $450.
Why'd I get the Nightmare? I thought it looked cooler. That's it. That's the whole reason.
And you guys thought I was smart.

Those early mags had a bad reputation though. Difficult with co2, chopping paint, shooting down, spikes, nubby failures and more failures.
If someone asked you what gun you used in 1992, and said "Blender". They would know exactly what you meant.
Its easy to see why Tippmann sold more 68-specials then all other semis combined 90-92. PMI3s, and early F1s very popular too. Golden Eagles were never popular though. The design.... looked hideous, like it was a toolroom prototype. Eventually, mags took over around here once people understood how they worked, added filters, ECs, and did proper maitainence. Loved the crownpoint "ping", as well as all the setups with remote hose wrapped around the gun. haha.
Long barrels were trendy back around 90-91. Everyone had a long barrel in the gear bag, no doubt Youngbloods constant cover shots, and video segments helped. Its funny that Carter would describe him has a "shop kid" always handing around, and eventually he felt he had to give him a job.... then the roles were reversed 10 years laterComment
