Eclipse LV 2 and S63 Barrel

They live streamed not long ago, new barrel system with neat looking inserts, essentially a Shaft 6 three piece. Tactical version too with a threaded rifled insert. And the LV2.

I've always balked at the price of high-end electros. I was a B2K/Ion guy back in the day and I ain't about to pony up a bunch of money on a space gun any time soon.

Jonnydread I generally agree, as performance doesn't really go up after the ~$600 price point. But this, like the Timmys, DMs, etc., are Cadillacs. They're there for those who want them, and there are plenty of people who want this. I'm not going to knock it's presence or balk at the price, considering what it is and the R&D and money that went into it's design & manufacture. I think it's priced fairly, all things considered.

Again, I do generally agree with you. But $1000+ paintguns do have a place in the industry.

Funny how when everyone was asking about an LV2 about a year or so ago, the official response from Planet was "There's no market for it and it will cost too much". I guess inflation fixes everything.

Standard protocol for Jack & Co. The LV2 development began in 2015 (!!) and the first test mule photos arrived in 2020. So, them answering last year with that statement was pure misdirection.

Glad to see it finally released. Really neat design with the HPR/LPR in the grips. This thing has some chonk to it though, I’m curious how the dimensions differ from the 1.6.

Most of all it really makes you appreciate how elegant the gamma core design is. Opening up my 170R with a mech frame and there really isn’t anything there. The inside of the LV2 looks like a bomb went off in a Radio Shack.

Agreed on the GC guns. The CS2 and M170Rs I have are elegantly simple in design

I do like the GC markers and the simplicity. I can respect poppets too, just never really used them nor had the desire.

Not really a fair comparison, though.

I got rid of my LV1.6 because I felt the front grip wasn't very comfortable. I'm glad they redesigned it to be similar to their other current offerings. Both regulators integrated into this front grip is pretty awesome design feature as well. I may actually purchase one of these in the future.

Agreed. It wasn't the contour of the grip that turned me off. It was that darn AT pipe. When I was in the market for a new electro (maybe 5 years ago now) that AT pipe alone made me go for an Etek 5 over a LV. Nice to see they figured out a way around it.

The packaging is awesome (and quite intuitive, given the constraints and requirements) and the less-concave foregrip is a much welcome change.

Love it. I'm a huge LV fan. I might save up to buy one eventually. I don't need it... I just want it!
I also really like that modular barrel system. I thought that a simple, modular system was lacking in their product line.

Wow! Never thought I'd live to see the day. I assumed with pandemic-esque supply chain hiccups this thing wouldn't come out for another couple years.

Yeah, I believe those supply chain issues kicked their "modular electronics" and the new OLED display into early service. Goodbye, transflective LCD - you've been a good friend.

I always liked the Ego, but wasn't crazy about the sound signature. The LV1 took care of that and was among the best performance/experience markers I have ever owned. There was a time when I would have been saving some change for one of these, but long ago. I don't see the price tag being out of this world high, considering. I paid nearly as much and even more for things along the way that certainly didn't hold a candle to the aforementioned predecessor.

I’ve been low key waiting for the PE answer to the TM-40. I’m assuming this is -not- it? No quick change frame? Ehhh.

The TM40 is a spool - from a packaging perspective, single regulated spools are far easier to layout/route. Making the LV frame to body connection wireless would've compromised the low body height (see Cyborg 6). Seeing that this is a dual regulated stacked tube spool, this thing stands alone and isn't trying to compete with anything.

Also, I don't think PE gives a crap about DLX - the smart and unbiased know who builds the better product.

Idk..I got a pre order one in blue/gold. I'll see how it fairs out..and if not onto the fs section lol

            I love LV platforms having owned a lv1. Lv1.5. Lvr.5 and lv1.6 ill test this lv2 out

I likely won't get one anytime soon, if at all, but this is very exciting to me. Especially in this time where most everyone is just making spoolers. It doesn't look much bigger than my Emek, but it should still have that stacked-tube feel. I really want one of these now, though I'd hardly every use it, lol.

I'm really digging that dual-reg foregrip design. That is my favorite part of this whole paintgun. It's awesome to see that someone finally figured out how to do a good hoseless poppet valve marker.

I know Jack basically said it's not a great idea, but now I want someone to figure out how to make the cycle independent of the trigger pull so we can have a mech version.

A couple years ago Jack Wood was on here arguing that you couldn't make an LV without an AT pipe. Guess that aged well.

I'm a fan of the platform but the milling style has gone downhill on the last 2 iterations. The 1.1 and 1.5 were great looking guns but the 1.6 was kinda meh and this one looks like a slightly curvier Mac Dev. Just not a fan of the look. The gun itself I'm sure is a great shooter. The barrel is a bit of a laugh. It looks like its supposed to take Freak inserts but I'm sure its PE's own system. I wish they would just bring back the Shaft FR.

I recall that discussion - you've got to remember that Jack enjoys intentional misdirection. Trust me when I say Jack never said, "it couldn't be done." He may have stated that it couldn't be done under x conditions/constraints. The 1.6 sales and the SMC solenoid were the likely suspects to knock those walls down. The LV2 began development in 2015 ,afterall....

As for the the MacDev comparison, if you're talking about the Cyborg 6, compare the body heights. The LV doesn't use a subplate or have a separate upper board so the body height is considerably lower than the C6.

I think the styling is excellent. Wait until you see some real photos of single-color markers out in daylight. Your tune might change.

My recollection is that he was saying it would be a redesign of the gun that would be too expensive to make business sense.

He also said it was too complicated to do without excessive seals and reliability issues, citing the G6R's split breech. We all knew it was a case of iphone generations though. Gotta leave something on the table.

The G6R is the perfect example of a design that works and works well, but goes wildly against Jack's engineering principles.

Routing through the trigger guard and placing both regulators in the foregrip was the secret sauce for a simple, clean and robust transfer circuit. The fact that they use massive custom transfer seals instead of 1mm cross section O-Rings also really helps.

Yes, it tickles my brain how many people are throwing up Bob Long G6R memes that either can't see or ignore the differences in the designs.
