    MacDev GT2

    #2
Gun manufacturers are really running out of ideas these days. I’d love to see Macdev release a cocker again or even another Cyborg.

You're not alone on wanting a new Cyborg.

From what I've heard, this has to reach a certain sales threshold for the next Cyborg design (which is finished) to be pushed into production.

So you're saying if I want to buy a Borg, I have to buy this first? That's quite the bribe...

I think this release might be a winner for MacDev. I've only heard good things about the GT/GTI bolt and many of the features carried over from the Prime XTS will really compliment this new marker. I'm interested in giving it a try

It's an excellent pairing, I think. I hope it sells well for them.

Agreed. Everything I've heard about the GT engine was how smooth of a shot it was, and everyone in the MacDev community seems to love the XTS ergonomics. Some view it as a "bad" thing, but I love to see them using the same parts where it's applicable. It means that post-purchase support is easier, and finding parts in the long run will be easier.

I really like the look of the GTs.

The pricing puts it probably in the mix of a Geo4 which feels about right.

      Here's hoping they do well.

Side note: I really would want one with the Blackout body with the "Ice Blue" color accents. If I had the cash and the inclination, I'd buy two, color swap them, then sell the "Stormtrooper" one.

I bet you could get someone like TradeMyGun to do that for you. They'll be stocking them...worth a call.

FYI - MacDev will have these available at Cup. I bet they'd do that for you there, as well.

This is AWESOME! I will be ordering....

What was retained and what was changed in the drive? Still have the shuttle? (I hope so!).... They were such great shooters... only thing I did not like was the ergos... now in a prime ergo package.... this is going to be very hard to beat!

        THANK YOU MD!

Yes, it still has the shuttle. That's imperative to the function and character of that drive.

Well, I hate to do this, but it goes:

Recieved my champagne and chocolate GT2 today. Got everything set up to do an unbox and first impressions video. Got through everything great until it was time to air up. Upon putting air on the marker the bolt immediately slammed forward and began venting. I tried a few things, including cleaning and lubing the GT drive, no luck.

Emailed NTensity Customs about the problem, they got a response from a tech pretty quick:

That sounds like a stuck solenoid (stuck forward). If the air is applied slowly and the solenoid is quite new, it could cause this. The GT solenoids are firmer than other solenoids. The customer could attempt to unstick it by increasing the velocity adjustment a little (say half a turn anti clockwise) then turning the ASA lever on sharply. He should have no paint in the gun and point it safely, the gun may fire once. If it is still stuck forward, the gun will have to come back to have the solenoid changed.
I followed those directions to no luck. Tried a few different tanks with various output pressures (380, 480, 815) at a bunch of different adjustments to the marker regulator, with no luck. Unfortunately it sounds like my noid got stuck.

Now, the "silver" lining: NTensity is sending out a replacement marker ASAP and including a prepaid shipping label to send the down one back. Excellent customer service IMO, just a shame I have to use it. Hopefully this is a minor problem that's not common and doesn't happen after "break-in".

That's interesting to hear. The solenoids since the Prime revision (more robust pilot and the bullet shaped spool) have been incredibly reliable.

Agreed. Hopefully just a one-off that snuck by QA. It does appear to be a different solenoid than what the Prime's are using, maybe the XDR solenoid? I know the board itself had "XDR" printed on it.

The board, battery and pilot should be carryover from the XDR. The XDR pilot should be identical internally to the Prime pilot - the GT2 valve body is different since it uses a 4way vs. the XDR 2way.
