Last time this came out it was something like 500 shots at 7bps

It was basically a rental with a 48/3k

Now granted this makes a little more sense as a mag feed but I'm still not holding my breathe for anything main stream

So is it basically an oversized airsoft engine?

Thats what it seems, butyou would think the energy requires to fire a paintball in the same manner is insane.

Right. I'm pretty certain airsoft guns smack the bb to velocity. I don't see that working well with a brittle gelatin shell. Home defense maybe, though.

Surprised it's coming from Valken, not exactly the brand I associate with innovation or even hard goods in general.

Man I'm a fan of all kind of music, particularly hip-hop, but the song in that video was so painful to my ears I have to watch on mute. Is there any useful info in the video? and does the firing have the same whimpering quality of a airsoft gearbox?

it actually sounded a lot like a regular paintball gun cycling, I couldn't hear any gearbox, but it's possible that's due to the incredibly loud music they were playing over the video

Makes sense. I just can't imagine a gearbox capable of bridging the energy gap between a 6mm plastic projectile vs a paintball at comparable speeds. I'm real curious to see the internals once it release.

Neat idea, but is Valken trying to solve a problem , that just isn't there?

Majority of folks wanting to play paintball, will want to ensure there are others to play against, so they will make a point to go to a paintball field.

And paintball fields are going to have air , and or co2 ( although much less common though )

What some fields might not have, are convenient outdoor power outlets to charge lipo and nimh battery packs !

They have been doing some work. I know they bought out milsig a number of years ago. That's why the milsig m17 and the Valken m17 are the same marker (cool platform if you have never dealt with one)

Everything I've had from Valken has been pretty good quality product. That said, I really don't see battery markers taking off but hey, they are trying something new. The tippmann c3 never took off but it's still a cool marker

If i recall correctly, the C3 didn't take off because the feds determined it was a firearm, killing any further development.

I think Valken just licensed the M17 from whatever Asian manufacturer makes it. The previous North American distributors were out of Ontario.

I mean that's my point lol. They don't do anything themselves it's all just rebranded stuff from other companies, same with the Code and Proton. They didn't buy out Milsig either AFAIK, they just have the US/North American license from Milsig who are Taiwan-based.

As a business like Valken that sells product for both Airsoft and Paintball, could this be their attempt to have a product that could attract airsofters over to paintball? Airsofters would already have a battery / charger ecosystem , and would also be very familiar with the ergonomics of this paintball AEG.

What sport, paintball or airsoft, is most lucrative to Valken?

I think Airsoft has the larger number of players by now.....with all those Call of Duty kids skipping over woodsball (shame!) , and moving straight into airsoft. But after buying an AEG from Valken, I think Valken stops making money off them since the BB's are so cheap.

If they can get new players to choose paintball, or move from airsoft into paintball, then Valken will see more paint sales, and more profits !

                      Thoughts?
