So this project is struggling a bit, but everything I read from Griffan is on the up and up.
Tl;dr Project isn’t abandoned, the guns actually exist and need some fixes, and it’s run by a guy who isn’t gonna cut and run.
FYI he is the guy who makes the Parabolic PB barrels, so he isn’t some rando, but someone with a good track record of designing and manufacturing good equipment.
They got a prototype that works pretty good, the production run guns need some serious fiddling before anodizing.
In conjunction it appears the main designer Jack has had some serious health problems, further delaying the fixes.
After being admitted to the private group for the project, it seems Griffan was very clear about the struggles and next steps, as well as accounting for where project funds were spent and how much is left.
Additionally, he has been clear that he’ll ship the unfinished marker to any preorderer who wants to try their hand at finishing it.
From what I can see, this is an earnest project struggling from typical design and manufacturing hurdles, along with some bad luck healthwise.
The Kyle guy on facebook is rightfully upset that the guns aren’t finished, but tbh I don’t think he 100% understood the risks of buying a preproduction sample marker with a novel design.
In any case, his expectations weren’t met and he posted in every fb group he could find, also including physical threats of violence.
So I did what any responsible McB greenie would do:
I threw out an offer for his preorder spot, and we agreed to terms.
So Kyle lost a bit of cash in the process but his situation is resolved.
Once I get some other things off my plate I’ll probably have Griffan send me a gun and we can have a nice group ‘tism on how to finish it

Manufacturing is hard. Complexity scales to the factorial of the number of components if you're not careful, but often at least the square. Honestly, it worried me to hear the jump from barrel to marker... big jump in complexity.
Transparency in accounting makes fraud so much less likely, and stuff simply being hard much more reasonable an explanation. For a short run, even a cup seal could be $50/gun. It's unreasonable to expect perfection on the first try - did anyone see how many ECRs were on the first Corvette C9 they built? I heard tens of thousands. On one car, built by a team of experts. Any product needs to be tweaked.
Buying the guy's preorder is a classy move. Bravo. Trashing a company for existing in the real world and not some Minecrafty frictionless ideal ... it just shows how out-of-touch a person can be in a field in which they're completely out of their depth. I don't try to judge figure skating... people who've never smelled Vactra 2 shouldn't try to dictate production schedules.Feedback
