Also for everyone's awareness: Adherence to a standard is not strictly required for paintball use. Standards are not laws. That said, it's a safe bet that no insurance company (or robust lease agreement) would ever allow something that's not industry standard. Lawyers (like a certain highly-informed lawyer I know) would easily be able to demonstrate why use of those torpedo rounds was a terrible idea on a paintball field and determine where the liability for any incurred damages would land. I think it should be obvious that any discussion around here about using these guns for paintball means they are shooting paintballs.

I don't think there are any commercially operated fields in the U.S. that are not insured. The insurance industry (to include the underwriters) extensively rely on the ASTM sub-committee for paintball and their findings. One such company (Cossio Insurance) actually tried to influence the ASTM to not include First Strike rounds in the standards and prevent them from being used on commercially operated and insured fields, regardless of field operator intentions.
As for discussions here implicitly meaning they are for shooting paintballs, that would mean that First Strike guns, and rounds could not be discussed here until they were in the ASTM and, stuff like the Sniperball should never have been discussed and never shall be discussed because they never sought ASTM approval once, in their 20+yrs of existence.

I'm tempted but the spare cylinders are 3x times the price of a TR-50 cylinder and I have lots of those already. Besides cylinder type and the ability to accept these new rounds, it doesn't seem like there is a substantial difference between the TR-50 and the 'Torpedo'.Comment
