A lot of markers are capable of this. The TMC, Stormer, T15, EMF. They all can swap to hoppers real quickly.

Hell, the T15 has a twist-lock barrel, kinda like the Automag. If you really wanted to, you could run FSR in a magazine, AND run the hopper adapter at the same time, and then simply rotate the barrel between the two. Need some distance? Rotate it to the mag. Need more firepower? Rotate it to the hopper.

The only thing I don’t like about those is the looooong back end. I’d probably run it off the bottomline ASA. Otherwise, I like what I’m seeing.

Agreed. And also like previously stated, straight stocks aren't friendly to paintball masks. In response to that comment in this thread, I finally put a mask on the other day and shouldered one of my AR-15's. I knew right away to never get a straight stock on a paintball marker.

Also, with unregulated blowbacks, I don't like having to switch paint with the weather. It's always a balancing act between breaks and bounces.

For years I've been arguing with my milsim friends about stocks and paintball. Never understood it.

The couple times I've used an FT-12 and FT-50, with the trigger link/forward trigger frame/longer back, I actually like it with the tank on the bottom line ASA compared to the historic Tippmann 98 style. It does, indeed, make the marker shorter. I really wanted FT-50's for .50 cal group (my sons, their friend, that friend's dad, and myself) for this reason, and I wasn't quite ready to shell out for eNMEys (couldn't find eNMEys in stock anyway), Emeks, or Etha 2's. However, I got such a good deal on the Valken Blackhawks, I couldn't pass them up. But I did end up having to 3D print drop forwards for them using full fill carbon fiber infused nylon. I also angled the drop forwards up to get rid of the existing down angle of the ASA. The boys love them with 13/3000 tanks, and we adults can run 68/4500's comfortably.

However, obviously mounting a stock on the newer trigger link/forward trigger frame/longer back style makes the length of pull atrociously long, as has been commented on. The historic Tippman 98 style would be better for this. But due to the mask interference issue, I would pick neither, and run bottom line ASA all the time.

I run all of my magfed markers with drop ASA'a and 1" rail risers. You just have to. Feels similar to using a pump with a backbottle.

My local shop called Valken. He was told late Spring / early Summer. Not sure if that applies to preorders or subsequent availability.

I bet if someone could make a trigger frame that sits farther back, it wouldn't be so bad lookin.

I'm guessing when they made the Gryphon/Cronus/FT12/Stormer they wanted to make a gun that didn't feel as long or cumbersome as the 98, and when they modified it into the Stormer Elite/Ripsaw it worked out well enough to not have the grip frame so far behind the magwell. They're kinda stuck with such a long body by using the classic internals, but I guess I'm in the minority that doesn't mind it cause I like having the frame more forward and closer to the magwell.

Well maybe I'm confused. The first announcements for this gun was that there would be a default magwell and Valken magazines but also an Eclipse-compatible magwell for purchase later. Did they instead go with the Eclipse/DAM magazines their default option and are introducing their own Eclipse-compatible mags?

All the mags shown look to be Dye/Eclipse compatible. I was also under the impression that there would be the option to use Valken (Milsig) mags or Dye mags (via magwell change). Now I'm thinking they meant Dye compatible mags made by Valken.

Has anyone heard what the barrel thread is kingman, cocker, or some exclusive thread that no one has?

They are autococker threaded my bad.

On one hand I really love the capabilities and features they decided to put in this as well as the price tag I think it's going to do good things for the sport

On the other hand I absolutely hate how it looks

Hmm…I feel like at $220, I’m no longer interested. I’m surprised nothing was mentioned about Dye/PE mag compatibility in the video.

$30 over the Tippmann Stormer Elite is kind of hard to swallow.
I wonder if it would be possible to make a PE-compatible magwell for the Stormer.

Magfed isn’t something I’m much in-tune with… but I don’t understand how that price is hard to swallow. It’s pretty much what the Stormer is but with more mag options & FS-ready out the box. And I’m not aware of anything else FS-ready at that price. I’m curious about your logic with that.

Stormer Elite with PE Magwell, AC barrel threads, and air-thru-stock option. I'm not saying I like it, but just the PE magwell and AC threads are probably worth $30. MilSimmers really value the air-thru-stock too.

I can see the appeal, and if someone can't swing a used EMF100, I hope he/she buys a Ripsaw or one of the existing Tippmann 98 style mag-fed markers to try/grow mag-fed.

                          My opinions/comments:
                          1. Emeks are better all-around than Tippmann 98's/clones.
                          2. My field doesn't allow FSR's, so no advantage for me there over a Stormer Elite. A used EMF100 is FSR capable.
                          3. I don't like inline stocks, so no advantage for me there. This is an added cost to the $220 entry price point on the Ripsaw. MCSUS offers this for the EMF100, albeit at a much higher cost.
                          4. I don't like, but don't hate, how it looks.
                          5. If someone doesn't stick with mag-fed, I think less money will be lost on a used EMF100 vs. a new Ripsaw (TBD).
                          6. The price and delivery date have changed. I'm sympathetic to supply chain and shipping issues. Gino said two colors; I thought it was three. Given those changes, and to leave out, in the video, the feature that the Ripsaw accepts Dye/PE mags has me wondering if that's changed too. If so, that's a huge loss.
                          7. If this does catch on and chews into the EMF100's market share at all, I think PE has room to lower cost on the EMF100. This may be in the form of an EMF100 with a smaller or maybe 3D-printed body, less accessories, etc., but I think PE has some room to compete here. Keep in mind, $220 is entry price; it's extra for any of the accessories that many may want (or at least think they want in the beginning). Again, making it even closer to a used EMF100.
                          8. I was interested in this as a loaner to get others at my field to try mag-fed. But to date, no one has even wanted to try my EMF100 or TiPX. With the price increase, it's that much closer to a used EMF100, which would be a better loaner, and since it performs better, has a better chance at getting someone hooked on mag-fed.
