I like the idea, but shouldn't the home page have all the resources on it? It just seems like a giant advertisement and if anything the o-rings, screw sizes and all the actual information for autocokers is hidden.

And considering that everyone's moved to Facebook, and FB is terrible at storing and indexing information to be commonly referenced, apart from a few YouTube videos, it's not actually all that easy to find specific information.Anybody who's more of a novice autococker owner going to go to their local airsmith for anything they need.
-Two things, there: First, not everyone- by a VERY long shot- is "experienced and comfortable". As above, MCB is a wild outlier- check any of the general-paintball Reddit listings, where people will post a photo of an Intimidator, say they just bought it for $40 at a garage sale, and ask what it is. Or they'll dig their old Spyder One out of the closet where they haven't seen it in 20 years, and ask if it's still playable.Anybody who's more experienced and comfortable doing their own work most likely already knows where to find all the information on the site.
As I just noted, a lot of the old paintball info, that used to be in "owner's groups" or general-paintball forums like this one, is gone these days. Either gone-gone, when the forum/website collapsed, or moved intentionally to Facebook where that information is basically unfindable and unsearchable. This sport is having enough issues with interest and participation these days- we need to be actively making the info MORE available, not less.
And second, even those of us that ARE "experienced and comfortable" quite frequently need to refer back to manuals, lists of hints, exploded views, O-ring info, and so on.
I've been doing this as a day job for over twenty-five years now, and even I can't recite O-ring sizes or seal durometers off the top of my head like a bible litany.
I have my stacks of notes and old physical manuals and whatnot out in the shop, but far more importantly, I have downloaded PDFs, and a whole list of browser bookmarks on my desktop PC.
There's still people using 25 and 30+ year old markers out there- and there's still those markers being bought and the new owners trying to ressurect them. How many people do you think have bought a marker at a garage sale or a pawn shop or secondhand store, aired it up, it leaked from three places since the 20-year-old seals had degraded, and just thrown it away rather than try to fix it? I'll guarantee you that number is in the tens of thousands, and includes everything from cheap pumps to rare-edition Angels.
Personally, I'd rather see the info out there and very easy to find, than buried somewhere on Facebook, so it's as easy as possible for the owner to find it and fix whatever he has.

Lots of hate for a page that makes information available.
I think it's a great idea. The landing page is a bit loud about the ads, maybe a banner is now common for format, but hey... he who owns the site gets to choose!
I love that there are drawings and manuals for components. I didn't dig too deep, but is there a submissions page? A link where someone can send in their old scan of a catalog or email from a vendor or even a link to theoringstore.com cocker seal kit would be a good feature. Whatever helps build the database fastest will ensure it becomes a resource, not a nice idea that never took off.
If it's popular enough, it might be worth creating a network of similar sites, and having a master directory that links between them. Even if "Spyder.com" isn't available, if I bookmark autococker.com and know it can also help me find out what seals I need for that EM1 would be great. Too few people are preserving information in a useful way.Feedback

It's loud, but also BMC is up there, and obviously bearded works himself is too. Honestly even trying to FIND a hopper that fits the old stove pipes is a complete pain in the ass, and that's if the hopper doesn't just absolutely go full nutribullet on the crappy modern paint as it is (halos). Every shop advertised is reputable and does awesome work at great prices. Imo feednecks are a minimum quality of life feature just to keep the old gats running. BMC's freak boring keeps the stock barrels in use, and is FAR cheaper then a full barrel kit. Mastersconi's elbows make right feed fun. While not necessary in the strictest sense, IMO those ads are really steering people towards having a good time right out the gate. I'd rather have someone drop a little more cash up front and have a good time then be fighting with shitty viewloader elbows or stove pipes, that's for sure. I'm in favor of the ads, and don't mind them being loud at all. -
Yeah, exactly... at least it's shops I have used or would be willing to use, not just highest bidder junk.
A smart ad might be a quick "menu" adjacent to the link to each site, e.g. Freak boring, feedneck mods, and upper tube milling.

Google deep-sixing all those old Geocities pages and the loss of sites like the Rat's Nest ( DocsMachine, think you could resurrect that somewhere?) is maybe more noticed by the people around 20 years ago, but all that info is gone, folks. How many people here know that AKA made Tornado valves for PPS Typhoons at one point? Probably not many.
Perhaps there are some valid points buried in the "hate" but I for one am happy there's another centralized spot for information.Comment

There's stuff the Wayback Machine can't find, too... like BonesJackson 's Matrix Pages. -
The wayback machine used unauthenticated web crawlers so anything that required a username/password or that was behind a paywall isn’t there. Also, some free/public pages just were never crawled.
My mention of the Internet archive was to hopefully have some things linked there from Autococker.com (or wherever, really). Some pages will definitely be lost forever, but others might be found again.
