    First Strike "Anti-Hero" regulator

I went looking for a rebuild kit recently for an older Hero regulator, and was told they have new regulators coming out. They are running an upgrade special, so I got one. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, their website is still updating, and google searching didn't turn anything up. I haven't aired it up, assume it's around 600-800psi default. Springs were greased. This was the informal quote about what was different:

"The new reg uses the same internals as the Hero2, which means if you wanted to get a new Anti-Hero (and warrantee) you would have another reg to use for spares if needed. Those spares will work on all the regs you have. The brass reg seat seat seal is not used in the new reg so it is less problematic in that area. The grip for rotating the reg is easier to grab and more user friendly "

Interesting. Will be neat to see FS back in the reg game.

So? They just added that piece to make it easier to turn onto a tank by hand.

It's not a bad idea I just wouldn't like that the regulator is now 2 inches longer for the addition of that

One thing I like about the hero reg is how short it is, make for a nice compact package when put onto a 9ci tank. Wonder why they went back to a taller get with similar internals.

If they discontinue the previous Hero regs, that would be a huge mistake. The appeal of the previous Myth/Hero regs is their size, especially when used on small tanks.
          I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.

Looks like the reg-seat/spring is the same unit, but now presses against aluminum body instead of brass plug, but more importantly, that unit is swappable on the older hero regs, so you should be able to rebuild the old regs with the new guts. Using the hero2 on a 9ci is my use case also, it matches the old 3.5oz tanks in height on a VSC phantom.

Always found the performance of FS regs to be garbage. They are really the only ones I actually had regular issues with. I don’t think a larger body is going to fix the design. Fill nipple removal looks like a better design. Hopefully they are not glued on like the last batch.

Fill nipple is now wrenched from the outside to remove vs allen key down the inlet, this does make it stick out a bit more. My FS regs are all "p3" or "p2" units, not the hero2's, still same guts, just different variation on the body adjustability. I never had issues with the regs on gear, but most stuff is double regulated. I know the reg-seat was the failure condition for many people, so perhaps this is one of the design changes that was done to alleviate issues.

Someone correct me if this is wrong but did FS get this regulator design from the old gorilla air myth regulators?

Yeah, the Hero reg's are from the Guerilla Air, my sample in the image is basically the FS labeled G3/P3 reg - https://ansgear.com/guerrilla-air-g3...lator-4500-psi

Here's a picture from the Renatus Team (formally FirstStrike) that shows technically a Hero2 regulator with the slightly different collar, that's magnetic.

The P3 reg required you to unscrew the top and adjust, and rescrew, so not really dynamically adjustable.

Both options allow you to spin the bottle to avoid intake-wrist collision

The cheaper, not adjustable - https://ansgear.com/guerrilla-air-m3-tank-regulator-3000-psi-tank-standard-output

The longer reg body is possibly being driven by modern ergonomics. A longer form is more stable, and results in better snap shots and running'n'gunning. There's been a huge shift towards that form, even going so far as many tournament players running reg extenders for PH's longbody regs.

Will never understand this. I just don’t find holding something further from my body helps me stabilize it.
