Nova reinventing the 3 way?

Ignorant question here as I don’t know what a dual spool actuator is but it looks like there isn’t an LPR on that front block. Does it also replace the LPR, in addition to the 3-way?

That said, it does have a third line coming off of it headed in the LPRs general direction so maybe the LPR is just hidden behind the dual spool actuator

My guess is the trigger actuated first spool is a pilot for the second spool which then switches the ram.

The new actuator is just so big it hides it.

the guy also put up a video of it cycling on autococker nation on FB and said apparently it requires only .010 of movement to cycle so if my quick math is right is like 15% or so of the absolute minimum throw of a traditional 3 way.

I will have to see when these come out as single parts, if it’s fast enough I may get one and get it annoed to match my build to try it… or just wait and buy a whole one of these cockers lol.

I spoke to them at ION I think endgame for them is a lprless design. I just hope they get the machining issues ironed out I was one of more than a few I saw with cockeyed hex milling on the valves. Really hope they add a slider at some point as well. They seem to have great ideas but too many and execution becomes an issue.

499.00 for just the 3 way or 499 for a set up/ marker. That's pretty pricey for just a single pneumatic, regardless of performance.

Actuation that short has me wondering if it's piloted by a poppet, like an MQ or a Clippard solenoid. Lift the poppet enough to bleed and it's off to the races.

Negative. they only have replaced the 3way with some spool configuration. Up above someone was suspecting it could be a poppet type spool which would explain the insanely short throw of the 3way/spool. Still uses a timing rod that is directly connected to the trigger.

Now one interesting question is if this will only work with swing frames. I would suspect if the poppet theory holds true then it will only be for swings but if it's something else going on then I may work on slider frames.

Would also explain why they did their swing frame first over a slider. Their cocker pump just happened to be an easy detour, but this 3-way replacement being the real prize.

yeah see in my mind the way I would initially see a poppet spool work there I would think a slider would be more logical to pull the poppet backwards, but maybe I am thinking of the system wrong. Will be really interested to see the diagram when it comes out to understand what's going on.
