OpForged PBK: closed-bolt, magazine-fed, blowback paintball AK.

Haven't been able to find a picture of the guts yet but this is very interesting stuff.

The shpill is awfully reminiscent of the 90s 😅

Our dedication to realism and study of the AK has been extensive. Every part of the PBK is built in much the same way as the real-steel equivalent. Many components are compatible with original and surplus AK pattern equivalents.

And, as paintball players for over 20 years, with an extensive history in magfed, we also incorporated practical elements for the paintball field, including 'a cocker-style regulator with full rebuild compatibility, 360-degree remote swivel in grip, an anti-double feed system, no-tool field strip of the action, and a quick-strip breach pin to easily remove the barrel assembly for cleaning or to adapt to changing field conditions.

Fed from proprietary rock-and-lock magazines that can feed 20 FSR and are themselves easy to field-strip and clean with only one screw, our design is the result of over a decade of experience designing some of the most common magazines in the sport.
Love my brass ... Love my SSR ... Hard choices ...

Badass. It's cool to see that the design came from magfed enthusiasts, so hopefully at its core it's a playable, reliable design.

The first part of your reply contradicts the second.

Couple tidbits from the video Q&A:

      1. Operating pressure is around 450psi.
      2. Efficiency is awful. Something around 60 shots from a 13/3k tank.
      3. Mags are proprietary.
      4. It will shoot normal paintballs but has trouble with brittle paint (like all magfed guns)
      5. Their goal is to have 10 of the things ready for T&E by Fulda Gap of this year.
      6. Pricing is totally undetermined because there's still questions about production sizes.

Not a whole lot of information about how exactly the thing actually works, though the stripped internals are immediately similar to an AK bolt/carrier group. Supposedly it's hammer, not striker-fired, and he said something about the gun's valve being part of the moving carrier group which is wild if true.

Did we ever get a good report about how that similar "Hardstyle Paintball" AK thing functioned?

It's basically a montneel valve (tippman system)

I just happen to have one in my possession right now that I'm working on for a friend. I'm trying to get it up to velocity, and to cycle reliably. The best way to describe it is what you would get if a drunk Tippmann hate fscked an Evil Omen, and they had a bastard love child (twice in one week I've got to use that analogy). It's a closed bolt (Omen) inline blowback (Tippmann). It even uses a choke screw to adjust velocity like a Tippmann. Maybe I'll take some disassembly pictures soon.
            I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.

Where the hell did this come from!?

Cool ideas inside it looks like.

I'm expecting a sky high pricetag considering everything listed there. I'll watch the video later

Also though, what the hell is an "autococker style regulator?"

From listening to the video and the other regulators he referenced.. I think he literally means he copied the internals of a wgp regulator, same as inception.. etc

So much for being "in the field for 20 years" and not be able to describe a regulator without confusing everyone 😅
