Did they not with the Proflex that nobody buys?

Proflex X. They splurged on the lens system, and cut costs everywhere else. They should've stopped with the hybrid E-Flex.

No one but me. I considered the original Profiler to be a solid budget mask. Or I remember it being priced that way. For the sequel to be edging $100, it feels out of place price-wise.

When I bought my original profilers the only thing more expensive was some dye trash that left the jaw and forehead exposed. I think I paid $80 new. The last time I considered buying a new mask 4 or 5 years ago, nothing was nearly as nice feeling, fitting, or protective as the original profilers.

I guess $95 would be appropriate for inflation across 15 years but anything more expensive than that better come with a new iPhone built in because it’s a ripoff otherwise.

              Nope.

As someone who was able to test the prototype profilers back in 2001.... These are just ugly. Smooth form fitting masks must be out and looking like temu Optimus Prime is in.

nerdcore I may be wrong but I remember the OG profilers being $120 back in 05 or so. I know they were at minimum in the $100 range as I couldn’t afford them new.

Correct. The regular Proflex's that people jizz their pants over are outdated by at least 2 decades as far as features go. Sorry, but that's just not acceptable for the price they fetch.

And sure, my Carbons may cost twice as much, but I get an extra lense, a case, and modern features. I can also replace the foam in no time of need be, the lense takes less than a few minutes.

Its just the actual feel during use that is the prime feature of a spectra or flex or any mask. The crbn is cool but all I could see was nose foam when I wore mine. Maybe if i chopped the foam down but I didnt want to mess with a 200 dollar mask.

I like the look of these.

But I'd need to try one on. The older (like, 15-20 years ago) Profilers would fit fine, but somewhere along the line they changed the straps. They are much shorter (and lower quality) than what they once were. The newer runs of Profilers simply don't fit my head due to the short strap. And I shouldn't have to buy a strap just to use a mask.

Which sucks 'cuz after I had LASIK I've been trying on as many masks as I can to see what I was missing. And I've been disappointed so far. Still wearing my OG Spectras.

I love the extra thick Virtue straps on the VIO Extend line. I've been collecting masks the last few years, but I tend to wear my VIO more than anything else.

I have the same problem and can confirm the new 2.0 fits similar to the original. I bought a Profiler from ANS and the strap was so tight, it felt like I was wearing swimming googles.

I just ordered a pair, and on impulse they had Grill 2 masks on sale as well... so got both. I'll do a full write up once they arrive. I have the original versions of both masks as well.

Looking forward to the write up. I have an old profiler and Grill 2 and aside from the foam being too dense in the Grill, I love it. The foam is softening with use and it’s more comfortable now. The profiler has always fit nicely.

Looks like the masks will be delivered either today or tomorrow. Have to dig up my originals.

I tried a pair on I thought they fit nicely. It’s more of a lower profile mask than the original profilers. I like the fit I won’t be getting one since I have a bunch of other masks that fit that bill. But reminds me of a Vio in fit with the Profiler lens I’m sure it will make a nice mask. I think it would be a nice option especially for someone that already has a bunch of profiler lenses.

I almost bought a Vio Ascent as well, but the Grill 2 went on sale for $70 off. The last brand new mask I bought was a Profiler about more than a decade ago, so I'm over due. Also nice to have quality masks to lend to friends/family.

Yeah the 1x a year I get my non paintball friends to play people are always trying to buy the masks off there face. They see blue jeens and T shirt with an OG JT mask and the sharks circle. Good loaner mask is a must most rental masks are so beat!

I went a little rabid in 2023 and bought like 10 good-to-great masks. My loaner setups are top notch at the expense of my poor flaccid wallet

Original profilers are amazing lens but kinda hot to me. Maybe these will breathe and sound better. Dont care about looks much.

Agreed on looks, originals were much better. But I don’t really care for the look of any of the new generation of masks. I’ll be happy if the fit nice and actually cover my jaw.
