New Meteor Mini Sniper - autococker

Meteor is set to release a new Sniper this Sunday 9/7/25 with some interesting changes. It features a larger valve body, larger body ports, enlarged VASA ports, and an 11/16 valve. The VASA also has a Spyder-style design, stemming from Fabrice's time at Kingman/Spyder.

I'm curious to see how these changes affect the operating pressure. For reference, my full-body Sniper he released last year is running at 145 PSI to shoot 300 FPS (after tuning). We talked about experimenting with different cup seals sizes and valve port sizes - it will be fun to explore a new valve chamber and body port size.

He made 3 different valve nuts, one for Lazerous, one for meteor, and one for 11/16 valves.

NOTE: I only have the body kit, I believe these will be sold as complete markers. I'll check.

Which meteor release did you get down to 145? I’m guessing something with a gold chamber?

Not sure what the price range is, but having bought a Meteor kit during the previous release these are pretty great markers. I really like mine.

Whoa, I really dig the mix of cocker and Spyder going on with this between the feedneck and the vasa. Seems like it would be easy to throw a phantom feed on this body.

I swapped over all my parts from my other sniper at 145psi shooting 300. And this was at 312. I did 5x at 312 and stopped, I thought my radar was broken. 2x 313. 3 more at 312. Insane consistency. Temperature of my balls must be just right. I want to triple check those results, but for sure we gained FPS. My old impulse shot at 120psi and with the valve chamber the same size at 20mm I know it theoretically could get there. Next I’ll set the pressure at 120 and change other parts to get to 300fps.

            this is hot

My balls also want to know the optimum temperature. For science.

That is an exceptionally clean body. I love the body to back block interface - tight and clean.

I feel like most the time my balls are too hot. Glad you got to experience the perfect ball temperature.

Well for a long while I’ve been chasing the mystical 120psi. And finally after $$$ spent on every part imaginable and days of time fidgeting with parts, I have finally achieved this goal. Even though this was shooting reball in a garage, it still feels like a win! Congrats to meteor for a making a unicorn, I hope all the rest of the bodies are like mine.

i am using a modified LAZ valve(two fins cut off, shaved top, stiffer spring), 27g hammer, a very light hammer spring.
all I had to do was turn the IVG 1 turn in.

I love to see innovation and just something new in the cocker/sniper realm. Although, after doing some Lazarus and other 11/16th test and tuning on snipers I'm left wonder why bother? Sure you can make the pump stroke slightly lighter than a CCM lower tube. The Laz valve also provides a quieter shot and was slightly better on air. All this at the cost of reliability

In my experiences, low pressure through a traditional style valve yielded worse air efficiency. I shoot a small tank, so that does matter to me. Additionally, traditional 11/16th valves are load and fart when the pump handle is held forward.

These are just my findings, not science.
I'm not trying to insult or dismiss what Meteor is doing. Their snipers are very nice quality especially for the price.

LAZ is 100% unreliable, every time it sits for more than a few months they leak on air up. I need to remove it and relube, tighten the cap again. But it does give you significantly lower operating pressures. We know markers can shoot efficiently at 120psi, if you are getting bad efficiency something in the system is not correct. You can eliminate the farting on any sniper with the correct balance of pressure and spring rates. There is zero fart at 140 psi with the stock meteor vlave on this one.

so I’m by no means a pump purist. My favorite markers are bored out to insanity and run Morph valves which get me in the 130-140psi range. The biggest reason I run ultra low pressure is how much it changes the trigger feel on my Semi’s

Additionally, traditional 11/16th valves are load and fart when the pump handle is held forward
historically this has more to do with running a bolt without orings and/or setup poorly than it being “11/16” valved

I’ve seen loads more 9/16 valves fart than ANY other valve

The reality is the changes will be un-noticeable to 90% of buyers but more importantly cost basically zero to make the change.

I did a bunch of testing this morning. the magical numbers of last night were dulled slightly with the 80* F sun. I took some video.

                LAZ + 27g hammer + light spring
LAZ + Delrin Morph valve hammer + light spring
LAZ + CCM hammer + light spring
                Meteor + 27g hammer + green Spring
Meteor + CCM hammer + green spring

The best operating pressure was with the laz valve and delrin hammer. @90PSI : 254FPS, @100PSI : 274FPS, @110 : 285fps, @120 : 304FPS. This spring is extremely light, I think with a different bolt design and lower range regulator with a lower output tank pressure we could push these numbers.

I prefer metal hammers, I find the delrin will be inconsistent overtime, once any debris, sand etc, get in there the FPS starts to jump around. The stainless holds up better to debris, but there is a trade off.

The meteor valve was about 20psi higher or 80 FPS slower. It did not reach 304FPS until 140psi. The meteor spring perch - on the vasa - needs the meteor cone/conical spring, and you can not swap out the vlave spring for a lower spring rate. I would need to buy a few conical springs to fit the spring perch to really give this a honest try.

In this video I start at 100, 110, and 120. The oil filled gauge moves the pressure needle when it is not vertical - I dry fire to reset it to a correct reading. You will notice I increase the IVG to see how that affects the FPS, at once point I go 1.5 turns in and the FPS stayed the same, so this is wasted energy, I back it off again until the FPS start to drop, then back up to the peak or just over. As I increase the valve pressure I can go in more on the IVG. so I give it an extra 1/2 turn knowing it will need it at the 110PSI.

Even if all my numbers are off 20% (radar and gauge error) this still makes it the lowest operating pressure autococker I have shot. I did test with another radar and another gauge.

You need a polished titanium hammer lol. Only slightly heavier than aluminum but no need for anodizing.

Frmrspec Titanium would be cool. I’m getting a 7075 hard anodized hammer made. Should be fine with how light the hammer spring is. All these forces are much softer than the old HP days.

7075 with hard anno is going to have terrible surface roughness.. even if you started with single digit RA numbers.. after the hard anno it will be like sand paper in your lower tube… I hope it’s pump and not semi. Only saving grace would a dry film coating of some sort… that would likely adhere pretty great to the pore structure of hard ano

I am on the fence about plastic hammers. It seems attractive to not put liquid lubricants that may attract dirt? Rely on the materials natural lubricity.
