Do you like poppets or spoolies and what is your price point for a marker? Are you looking for something that can be swapped to use a mechanical frame in case you want to play in a mech event? And yes sadly everything for the most part is a soulless milled down tube devoid of any character. -
Honestly, as much as I hate to say it, planet eclipse, whatever your budget allows for.
The reason I hate to say it is because PE stuff is so soal-less. There's no feedback, no life in the markers they are just machines in your hand and nothing more. You can't customize them at all, can't do a different ASA, feedneck, the barrel is the only thing you can change really.
Now the reason I suggest them for you is they work, they are extremely reliable and are great for heavy use weekend to weekend. I own 2 markers from them and both have worked great

What are you looking to play?
I wouldn’t buy anything new that wasn’t a Planet Eclipse. Hands down they make the most reliable markers. From the base models to the high ends they are all best in class.

Also, I'd suggest getting out there any playing before you try to commit to tournament play again. The tournament scene is far different today than it was in the glory days of SP and Angel

My understanding of the current wcpl rules is that a double trigger pnumag fits within the rules. That will smoke anything PE has hands down.
Now granted, that's not a factory marker but (as far as I'm aware) neither is anything PE has with the FL or DW hair, those are not factor options either but that's pretty much everything people run

Nope that marker wouldn’t be allowed under 5.2 of the WCPL rules currently.
You would also need a massive tank to shoot that sustained volume of paint at the ROF a SHP Pnumag operates at. It’s a bigger heavier much less efficient setup. The only thing it’s got is ROF due to the trigger mod.
I love a good shooting mag but a stock Emek will out perform most mags in just about every way. It’s why you don’t see them used much for tournament mech play today. -
I talked to someone who is currently playing wcpl with a double trigger mag. 5.2 specifically calls out trigger guard height for a solenoid operated marker. (Which admittedly is really odd wording) Since there's a sear in a mag it has an exception. So unless his tournament (he didn't elaborate on what kind of level he plays at) has it wrong normal mags get an exemption but I'm not sure if anyone has tried a pnumag since that does server the triggers connection to the sear but the marker is still run from the sear.
I'm not claiming to be an expert on this but the rulebook does specifically call out "solenoid" operated markers for the trigger guard height requirement -
Depends on the event how strict they get. But technically it’s not legal. If someone complains it would likely result in a penalty. I certainly wouldn’t chance it if I made it to finals. Most woodsball 10 man events are pretty laid back come finals they get much more strict. I don’t see the extra ROF that big of an advantage given the extra weight and inability to shoot the volume of paint. The biggest advantage of the new Mech is 100% their efficiency. Points are long in 10 man. You can make a mag legal but not with those mods.

Definitely keep a PE gun in your gear at all times. Enjoy and explore other markers but keep that one thang on you.Comment

You can find a nice 180r and mech frame for usually around $700ish..Best bang for the buck for tourny play...
If you have more money get a CS3pro and dont look back...
PE guns work really well... If they are not working its usually something simple, like cleaning the eyes because you put to much lube in there.Pumps4ever Feedback Page https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/b...-feedback-page

Good suggestions, one thing that hasn't specifically been addressed; the overall quality of mid grade markers is dramatically higher than it was 20 years ago.
You can get a really great shooting marker that is reliable with good features for 300 bucks. Really just need to know what sort of play you want to get back into.Need Inception Designs or Shocktech Products? Let me know!

Late model Planet Eclipse with a gamma core.
I have heard that the Geo R5 has issues, tho.
But DLX, Shocker, and now MacDev all use their own version of PE's gamma core bolt system.Comment

I do have an Angel fly (Joy division) and a Shocker Hibrid was not confident if they could keep up. Was definitely going to go out with those to get back into the swing of things first but wanted honest advice. Thank you so much for your helpComment
