DYE has always had a weird titanium fetish. For about half a day I owned a ~75% finished titanium IM9 I believe it was. It was over 1k IIRC, and the owner would presumably pay DYE more to finish it.

I bought it in the morning and sold it in the afternoon, netting like $200 for my college fund.

I mean if you have the machines to work on titanium why not? It's a niche that nobody else can compete with. Honestly if dye made line a simple titanium barrel I bet it would sell decent. Even if it was $150 single piece there's a lot of players that would love that

Well for one I doubt the tooling belonged to DYE, we were well into the dye sweatshop era by then

Jesus, Titanium INSERTS??!! That's got to be a royal PITA to manufacture. Forged Carbon is comparatively cheap to make in a tube shape.

Ok. What's "forged" carbon vs... not forged carbon

"Forged" carbon is the carbon fiber equivalent to particleboard or MDF. You sweep up all the cuttings from the shop floor after making full sheet parts and then glue that shit together.

I'm only partially kidding. It has some benefits for very complex parts where it's hard to get full carbon strands to fill in, but tubes are definitely much better as full strands (e.g. Deadlywind barrels).

Carbon fiber as we commonly know it is woven, laid in sheets. As tyonejk said, complicated shapes/parts that don't easily have flat sheets laid on them, you can use a mold to press carbon and resin into, making it "forged" carbon. Kinda like just cement with rebar vs concrete with rocks.

But in this context... its entirely because it looks cool lmao. In 20 years when this is gathering dust in some garage, a craigslist searcher will find it and it will be like us finding old chrome and fade ano pieces. Cool, but dated.

I'm guessing the costs of setting out of court were pretty expensive for Dye... That's insane

Thankfully I can read sarcasms! But now that I read my last comment out loud, it's clear I'm not fluent in sarcastic writing. Think I'll make more use of the proverbial "bazinga!" when being a smart ass in the future.

Allegedly his step son*, was suing DY for molestation when he was still a minor. This was in civil court, not criminal.

*: the plaintiff was not named specifically and I believe it is only highly likely rumor that it was the step son. I may be wrong though.

The John Doe plaintiff named DYE Paintball the company as a defendant, alleging that some incidents of abuse took place during company-sponsored travel and that the company was aware of the alleged abuse and continued to enable it. Both the alleged victim and alleged perpetrator were employed by DYE.

That triggered the company's insurance policy. The insurers then sued for declaratory judgment to determine whether their policies obligated them to defend the underlying suit and to cover damages awarded.
