    MacDev Cyborg X

If anyone will appreciate a new stacked tube poppet from MacDev, it's MCB.

Kind of a funny feature to market considering it's not at all new, but I'll let it pass.

While I only shoot an electro a handful of times each year, this wiggles the loins.

I've been out of the game for about 10 years, and I couldn't help picking one of these up in titanium. Really excited to be coming back, shooting a new stacked tube poppet. With only 200 being produced it ended up being way easier to grab one then I expected. Personally love the looks and the technology seems nice. I'm really interested to use the decoupled regulators. Seems like it'll make tuning even easier. The partially balanced valve and volume is neat too.

If I had got one I would have wanted a titanium one, good choice.

Unfortunately, the year is 2025 and that's just what high end markers cost. Stacked tube poppets aren't cheap to manufacture and they're not exactly producing a bunch of them.

Ultimately, the price was my deciding factor. If it was $12-1300 I would have bought it. I was out at anything over $1500.

        So...did anybody order one?

Now that they know there is still a demand, I am curious to see if they will produce another batch or not.
I will stick to my Prime and Clone 5 for now I guess and likely will not find these going cheap on the used market anytime soon, but they do look good.

MacDev has a handful of retailers that still have stock - Immortal Air, WC Marker, CPXBros, Punishers PB to name a few.

I snagged one from cpx. I think they still have some left too but moving quick.
Also imped4now- I hope you’re getting a kickback because your posts on Reddit definitely put me over the “should I grab one?” edge, haha. The info you provided was better than their advertising! Pumped to get it in hand.

I think it's telling that they limited production to so few guns and still haven't sold all of them. Personally, I was macdev fan until they first ripped off the Geo IV core in the clone 5, fumbled the implementation so hard they "upgraded" to the Geo 1 core, then ripped off the gamma core. I'm not gonna support a company like that.

They sold out very quickly. As of this moment, it appears all are sold.

"very quickly" is subjective. Let's not present opinions as facts. They planned only 200 guns and their reserved list was less than that.

you're not wrong. i still want an 04 or an 05/06 cyborg. and i'll probably buy one of those before this new one.

I don't suggest the 04/05 (same marker) thanks to the packaging between the trigger and LP hose. The 06 (an entirely different model) hard mounted the solenoid and ditched the hose, which really cleans up and simplifies the packaging. The 07 retained that same design but cleaned up some mating edges and reduced height. The 06 and 07 models are gems.

I shoot a electro poppet from 2012 that will probably sell for $200 on the market today

There haven't been significant changes to the platform since then

i have an LV2 and it is very nice and i do enjoy it, but.... i enjoy shooting my 20 year old guns more. and like imped4now said, it's 2025; nothing wrong with having 1 modern gun and a ton of old guns. just like when my liberal friends ask "how many firearms do you need?" well buddy "how many video games do you need?" "all of them" "exactly" what do i want to play with today? something retro, something modern? i love choices

russonti, I do not understand this industry. A new marker with an impressive spec sheet releases and all everyone wants to do is trash it.

Jsc5150, that depends on how you define "perform." As a multi-G6R owner, as well as many older STP's, I'm excited about this thing. How dare I.

imped4now I guess it's all about preference and what you grew up with. I do lean more towards the older side of things because i have a lot of old busted guns and holding on to glory days and such lol. I would totally rock this cyborg but i already bought an lv2 last year and a cyborg rx this year. my decision is purely financial lol. 04/05 cyborgs are much cheaper and i always wanted one since the day they came out. I do like the magnetics designs on this one though

I ordered mine in midnight from Jon @ immortal.

imped, you think it's going to be on the louder or quieter side of poppets? ... hopefully not as loud as an JTI....

looks absolutely amazing. I love cyborgs, I have an 07 and a C6 in my closet now... have owned RX and 06 borg in the past.

Quieter. And thanks to the valve design and massive HP chamber, I suspect the tuning envelope will be quite wide.

Lol I just saw the “impressive spec sheet”

          – Direct ported hammer made from stainless steel, with dual bumpers So it has a ram with disposable rubber parts lol
          – Balanced with spring return and polyacetal self-lubricating lubricating cupseal Truly groundbreaking to use a spring on a poppet valve. Oh and it’s nice the plastic self lubricates, also never done before, but the valve has orings so you gotta lube it anyway.
          – Self-lubricating bolt made from polyacetal material with o-ring seals and spring-loaded solid aluminium pullpin Wow we get orings, a plastic bolt, AND a metal pullpin? Never before seen on a poppet bolt
          – Dual in-grip decoupled regulators with relieving seat design and high-flow piston with precision stainless steel springs I love solving problems that don’t exist by exposing my LPR to an overcharging tank regulator. And I didn’t want to know the LPR or HPR pressure anyway.
          – Lever venting on/off system Nice feature, but this also came on $300 DP G3s like 15 years ago
          – True vertical front grip HOT DAMN THEY GOTTA BE KIDDING, THEY INCLUDED A FRONT GRIP
          – Milled matching front and rear caps retained using custom stainless steel screws Custom steel screws are a real selling point nowadays, the kids hate toolless disassembly
          – Autococker threaded barrel with S4 insert system and 14.5-inch deadly wind whip tip Good barrel, no notes.
          – Lipo USB-C charging system, externally accessible Gotta make sure this thing is ewaste in 5 years
          – High resolution full colour OLED in grip Nice
          – Highest quality OMRON trigger switch This isn’t the brag you think it is lol
          – Full-function programmable Macdev Board designed specifically for the Cyborg Board will be nigh unreplaceable, but luckily it is designed for the gun they are putting it in lol
          – Cyborg power bank Cool, the rest is cool lol
          – Pressed EVA carry case
          – Unique Custom Gem ring for collectors

Joking aside, I just don’t think it’s very impressive from a technical standpoint, and the spec sheet is fluffed with stuff that you can find on spyders lol.

But I also have zero expectations, like MacDev. If it was a seriously good marker, they would have made more than 200. With a revenue max of $330k, I expect a pretty basic STP, basically a Cyborg 6 without the gimmicks

Yeah, I wasn't referring to *that* (rather lame) spec sheet. I'm talking about the actual technical bits from my perspective, and some that aren't covered, like the sealed breech, wireless frame to body connection and the open-assist valve balance, which will widen the tuning envelope. It's not a weak release and I've dogged on MD plenty in recent years.

yea i mean anyone that buys anything from a marketing teams specifications section is living in delusions on pluto next to my aunt and some other bats lol. Yea i get it on paper or sales it seems like just another modern poppet. High end paintball markers have been revolutionized and modernized to death that improvements are going to be minimal. They are at their technical limits. Of course marketing teams are going to struggle. The real spec sheets are in reviews. I'm just glad someone is still making paintball markers other than planet eclipse. I'm rooting for ya macdev. I just hope it's not a giant pos. I dunno, let's see some user reviews when ya'll get them in!
