Thing is looking excellent. Cocker threads, pwr inserts, whole new bolt/engine, better battery, removed tons of springs, air transfer seals, and other little parts.
For anyone unfamiliar, Method was brought in to aid with the design and engineering of this thing. All aspects were analyzed and redesigned. Half of the Method crew is John Chambers, who is behind the DSR, M3, DLS and MXR, along with some other industry items. He's a damn good engineer who I know personally.
The drive has some known and unique concepts mixed together, the sealed breech is welcome and the screen, HPR and battery locations are logical. This is a damn solid release.
Not to mention an off the shelf standard battery. This is 100% something that needs to be emphasised. Look at other places that dont use standard batterys, when the battery is done for the item is done for. Even now people are having to figgure out (I think) old Angel batteries to get stuff working.
It is interesting that basically now all of the spool valved markers for sale from the major players (PE, Dye, DLX/SP) are (at least in part) John Chambers's designs.
Also, I'm going to be pedantic, but Lithium Iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries ARE still part of the Lithium-ion battery family. The word "Lithium-ion" doesn't refer to just one type of battery, but to a family of batteries using different chemistries. Usually when people talk about "Lithium-ion" batteries, they are referring to the first commercialized chemistry from John B. Goodenough, Lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2). Admittedly, Lithium cobalt oxide does have some serious dangers/risk, and all of the points Hans mentions about Lithium Iron phosphate vs Lithium cobalt oxide are correct.
