As much as these guys bring out the rumpy in a lot of people. Please remember to keep profanity out of posts.

Master Jar-Jar
I don’t know much about any of this but it was a fun read. Question though, is the guy who wrote this wrong? I see people saying he (?) is childish but to play devils advocate I’d be pretty pissed if someone stole my invention and profited from it and then made me spend exuberant amounts of money to get them to stop.
From memory.
They didn't invent anything. The purchased what they thought was hlthe first electronic trigger design from someone else and used their knowledge of patent law to create a patent so vague that it essentially made any paintball gun with any electronic component something they could sue over.
You can't get your money back if you win in patent court so only those with deep pockets even fought with them about it. The patent was eventually split in 2, or maybe their design was always just half but it was hard to prove without the other gun that came out earlier/at the same time.
It says a lot that the companies that were willing to spend enough money to fight them on it didn't loose.
my understanding is they made an order with PVI (the creator/inventor of the shocker) that the company could not fulfill, so they offered to buy them out instead..
there was a longstanding rule to never sell the gardners any of the PVI shockers that existed..
I really wanted to try the Aire and the new "entry" level I've heard about, but this is nauseating to read and really just wraps up all my concerns in a little nice bow.
They're just trying to win Google AI overviews, feature snippets, and "people also ask" search results. These types of pages are designed to be read by crawlers. Whoever is behind the search engine marketing for DLX is on the ball. It's the new SEO wave of AI enhanced EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) bs were sure to see more of across every brand, paintball and beyond. At least until google flips the script again.
"However, when the Smart Parts patent expired, most of the major paintball companies decided to jump into the barrel game. Rather than accept the industry standard, they wanted to change it. They took the Freak Insert design and modified it so that players would have to buy their new barrels. They made their markers use this new design so that players would have buy their inserts instead of the Freak System. Today, PE, DYE, Carbon, Infamous and Inception
all use this PWR design.
In the end, the PWR insert is just a copy of the Freak Insert System. However, we think it is unfair to make customers, stores and the entire industry have two different barrel insert systems. Therefore, we are moving to the FREAK POWER SYSTEM"
That's the hell of a twist. It almost sounds like they're being forced into adopting the PWR standard. I use the PWR system on my Eclipse guns and got Freak XL backs for my Shocker. Both are very affordable (and I never believed in owning full sets anyway so I get by with 2 backs 99% of the time) and running "2 systems" has never been an issue for me.
When I was shopping around for a 'second tier high-end' electro I looked at the 180R, the DSR and the Shocker. As a side note, I refuse to call that tier 'mid-end'; I consider the MXR, Luxe, CS3, Geo5, etc to be 'super high ends' or 'first tier high ends'. So anyways, I went with the Shocker admittedly out of nostalgia (I loved my shoebox Shocker 25 years ago) and because I've had a dozen+ PE guns in the last 15 years so I wanted to experience something else. I can now admit that the 180R (and probably the DSR) is superior to the Era and on top of that those brash antics don't inspire confidence where any of my future purchases are concerned.
Thats... Wildly incorrect.. people didn't want freaks because of all that goodwill that they had squandered
SP had a patent that they wouldn't share and took about a decade to licence manufacturing for another company (empire super freak) their only endgame was "every barrel I paintball should be ours", their vision has never included the concept "what if the customer doesn't want our product?”
Simon Stevens invented to PWR insert and didn't patent OR put a per use license on it so the industry could finally standardize..
Them adapting the freak system and acting like they were "forced" is absolutely insane
