Nova NX1 Sentinel Mark 4 is out

    https://novapb.com/collections/nx1-sentinel-mark-4

I'm not sure about that quad detent thing, but otherwise they look quite awesome.
"Aren't you getting too old for this??"
    "Nope."

That's okay, I'll buy it from you for cheap when you decide you don't want it anymore!

I think moderating without coming to the site might be hard

The price tag means I'm not buying one anytime soon. But good luck to anyone who does!
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Dumb idea of you ask me...

You'll be shooting the paint from static rest out of the breach and into the barrel now.

Agreed. Like Azodins, although no quad detents, which break quite a bit of paint unless using the toughest field grade, because they shoot the ball into the barrel.

Have all the previous quirks of these guns been ironed out yet?

This seems like a strange idea on a closed bolt gun. Isn't the ball going to clip the smaller bore of the barrel and break?

I guess it is for the "tube is tube" crowd and you just use a .695 that can shoot anything and don't care about efficiency?

I'm hopeful the quad detents will lead to some cool innovations in the future.

I’ve soured on nova after the recent Duckslide fiasco. Now they’re fudging returns and ghosting customers? Can’t get behind that . I can forgive the issues, but I won’t tolerate shit customer service anymore. They can do better and I hope they do because Nova has couple markers I’d love to pick up, this one included.

Mark Davis had the idea for a design like this for 25 years, according to him, and nobody listened until Nova halped make it happen.

Neat idea and I like the milling, but...not sure I want to have small rubber detents to worry about. I'd much rather have a sniper with zero detents.

Spyder also implemented the idea on their Hammer7

I actually prefer Azodin Kaos Pump solution, a detent ring built into the barrel.

They have detent rings? I had a Kaos and I don’t remember barrel rings, but I may have swapped the barrel without noticing

I do! I got a Mark 4 with the Gunstar frame about a month ago and used it at Supergame MD and a little bit at Skirmish ION.

I like it and the extra detents seem to be working pretty well. I have run it with a bit of an overbore .688 barrel so far and haven't any issues with barrel breaks. It does seem to be less efficient than my other autococker with the same Nova valve in it running at the same pressure. I think maybe shooting out of the breech instead of the barrel may let some air escape around the ball. the gunstar pneumatics fram also uses some air as well.

I just got it and didnt have it dialed in when I ran it at Supergame so I want to play another day with it before really trying to see what the efficiency is. I have had a few of the typical Nova quirks that I think I have figured out now. Those were mostly with the pneumatic frame. The peumatic frame is very short and fast but also very light. The trigger was sometimes getting stuck back and Id have to push it forward with my finger. It seems to have been caused by the frontblock having been a little
loose and rotated a bit which caused the timing rod to drag on the body and stop the trigger from resetting since the return is so light. I adjusted the front block and tightened the banjo bolt so that seems to be fixed.

The ram body seems to not be loctited and just hand tight so it tends to unscrew a bit after a couple of hoppers. Its probably that way for ease of disassembly but I may put just a bit of loctite there to secure it. Click image for larger version
